This is by no means a 5-star hotel, except for the lobby, which is beautiful. The hitel needs quite a lot of TLC. The Colonial style of the hotel is pretty, but it's showing its age in many aspects: lift, shower head, door to terrace not quite closing properly, chipped marble in places, pool towels threadbare, pool sun beds need replacing, etc. However, when we talk about our stay there, we smile, as we both enjoyed it very much. Staff are delightful & caring. Oh yes, another 2 points: the beach is inaccessible due to erosion & a train passes very close to the hotel, but doesn't operate during the night, although unless you're a very heavy sleeper, I wouldn't bank on sleeping late into the morning! But, who cares? It's a beautiful place, so why sleep instead of enjoying!

Very good hotel and the staff was very friendly. Specially Tharindu, Jayindu,Ajesh and Ramesh were very close with us. Hope to come again next time!!

You will be well looked after at this hotel. Every room looks out at the sea or the pool. Good choice at the buffet whether it's breakfast or evening meal. Take a walk along to the shops or a tuktuk to the station to visit Columbo. A gym is available too.

We travelled with a coach party and this was our second week after a week of touring. Hotel is beautiful, great pool to swim in and sea view room where you can hear the sea. Nawood (sorry if spelt wrong) was our waiter on our first night and treated us like royalty - such a polite helpful young man. We participated in the yoga, aqua aerobics and boccia twice in our week and Chrishmal was a great instructor- knew what he was doing to make them proper workouts but with a lot of fun as well - invited us to join in but not pushy. Food was great particularly the Sri Lankan night, live music in the lounge bar after dinner. We would completely recommend this hotel.

We had been to this hotel 4-5times on full board basis earlier too. Still the place maintains its hospitality well. All 3 meals were on buffet, there were limited varieties but the food quality is same and tasty. We were allowed a complementary late checkout also which was more convenient when traveling with kids rather running with the checkout at 12. Special thanks to Dilhani who is in the front office for being more polite and helpful. Overall everthing was perfect. Room no: 239 & 241. Arrival on 26 Oct.

This is a fantastic place to stay. The food is excellent and the accommodation is first class. The staff are all very helpful especially Tharindo who helped us to secure our boarding passes home. There is lots to do in the local area with may trips organised by the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel as add on after 8 day Jewels of Sri Lanka tour with Mercury holidays. Pros Staff on arrival were amazing.... Drink and flannel to cool is down. Always polite, well spoken and helpful. Room was large with beautiful view over pool, grounds and the sea. Bed comfortable (see cons) with lovely soft pillows Bathroom, small but everything clean and refreshed daily. Grounds immaculate. Pool was amazing.... Swim up bar, what can I say ... And the selection of AI cocktails were perfectly blended by great staff.. Plenty of sunbeds under brollies or palm trees. Had a problem with Aircon.... Sorted within 5 mins..... Again great staff service Food - I can't even put into words my feelings on the food..... AMAZING.., I only ate the Sri Lanka food and it never failed to satisfy..... Cons - these are cosmetic but should be improved. Bedroom, Twin room beds were comfortable BUT adults should never be given single beds... I kept waking up ever time I turned over as bed was only fit for children. Used to American queen beds in twin room. Bathroom. Was a bath with shower over. Large glass fitment meant getting in and out of bath difficult for older people and quite dangerous. Overall fantastic hotel...
