Rustic and genuine desert experience run by beduin family. An evening by the camp fire listening to the old and modern lives of the Wahiba Sands beduins is inspiring and interesting. Plenty of things to do and climbing the adjacent dune at sunrise or sunset a must.

Lovely place to spend a night and get to see a beautiful sunset and sunrise in the desert. What we also enjoyed a lot were all the amazing stories that our incredible host was telling us by the fire. The whole stay was an amazing experience and we are happy to have chosen this desert camp 👍

Great location in a peaceful part of the desert. Not recommended to drive yourself (4WD necessary) unless some experience driving on sand, although don't really have to go through the dunes to reach the camp (unless you get lost!) as there is a rough, flatter sandy path from Bidiyah to the camp. The charge of 15 rial for a drop off and pick up (15 min journey) from Bidiyah was a little steep by Omani standards but the driver Majid was friendly and enthusiastic. He also arranged a free room upgrade as the camp was very quiet. The Bedouin house was reasonably equipped (although don't expect luxury) - LED lighting with a large bathroom and living area. Great views out to the dunes. Mostly clean but some insects as to be expected. Not too cold at night, even in December. They made some effort to provide vegetarian food. We missed out on the campfire with the Bedouin owner and stories etc as he had gone to Muscat that day for shopping. Sand boards/sledges need replacing - they're broken and just gather sand - wasn't worth lugging up the dunes!

We visited with our 14 and 17 year old sons who are tough to please on vacation and they really enjoyed it. There is enough to keep them busy for one night but two might be tough. The dunes were spectacular and they did the dune bashing- well worth the price. They also enjoyed sitting by the camp fire hearing Obeid speak about Bedouin life and feeding the goats. Accommodations were great - our tent could hold six - it cools down nicely at night. Best part was the food - authentic and plenty of it. We showed up fairly early at the camp and Obeid shared his personal lunch with my son - can’t say enough t how much this gesture was appreciated by my son. We had them pick us up in town rather than rent a 4 wheel drive car - which is probably better anyway - Obeid’s son drove us - very nice kid and drove confident / fast - which of course my teens liked. Overall a great overnight trip.

We had a lovely stay. The dunes behind the camp are beautiful and great fun for playing on and seeing beautiful views of the dessert. The family tent was spacious and it was nice to have our own private seating area. We learned a lot sitting around the fire hearing about bedoin life. The kids liked milking the goats in the morning. We would recommend.

We booked the camp directly with Obeid, the owner, and were picked up from the site as we didn't have a four-by-four. We had a tent with our own small "bathroom" that was open at the top and was perfectly adequate for one night. We went up to the sand dunes at sunset and sunrise, a wonderful experience. In the evening you sit around the campfire and Obeid or his son talk about life in the desert and it's a lovely conversation. The food was good and there was always tea, Omani coffee or water and dates. We really enjoyed it there. Thanks to Obeid and his son.

Simplicity, tradition, generosity, sharing and the perfect place to fully enjoy the desert. We spent 2 nights to enjoy everything: 3-hour camel ride (more sporty than expected!), dune bashing (with sledding in the sand pulled by the 4x4!), Bedouin evening with traditional dress, dancing, tattoo henna, discussion around the campfire. Bedouin tent as expected with sanitary facilities in our private hut and nothing to separate us from the beauty of the desert (some camps are surrounded by high walls, what a shame...). The extra that made the children melt: desert rabbits who come to hang out in the corner and the possibility of cuddling and feeding the baby goats in the middle of the desert! Fabulous !!!! (NB: bring cash to pay)

Many thanks to Abeed and his team. We spent a memorable night and everything was perfect: the welcome, the Bedouin tent, the hearty and succulent dinner, the free activities, the campfire, our discussions,… We had our best experience in the desert. It was authentic and Abeed gave us a lot of information about the life and history of the Bedouins and camels. There were many free activities: campfire, traditional outfits, traditional Bedouin dance with all the explanations of course, feeding the camp animals (goats, sheep and their babies), etc. The tent was clean and spotless! The meals were so good and there was plenty of choice. But the best part was the incredible warm and sincere welcome from Abeed, the owner of the place. I recommend this place with my eyes closed for an authentic experience!
