Mt Vernon

Location: The property offers stunning views of Akaroa Harbor and the surrounding mountains, providing a serene and tranquil escape. It's conveniently located a few minutes' drive from town, yet feels remote and peaceful.

Nice location with view out to the harbour. However, accommodation was average, in need of updating decor but more so safety precautions both indoor and especially outdoors is highly needed. Indoors stairs leading to upstairs bedrooms very unstable. After enjoying a lovely family wedding during the pouring rain, there was no visual lighting leading up to the unit accommodation and while going up the multiple stairs I had a big fall resulting in torn skin and a cut nose & forehead which could have been avoided had there been lightning from the ground entrance all the way up the stairs. No assistance was around and the next day discussing this with the manager it was dismissed. It really is a health & safety issue and can be avoided with future guests if rectified. This incident should have been recorded and noted by the manager as this really was a health and safety breach and could have been a lot worst. I hope they take note to avoid this happening to future guests as all it takes is decent lighting. Guests be warned of the lack of outdoor lighting on the stairs.

Words cannot describe how amazing and perfect Mt Vernon Lodge was to celebrate our special day. We planned our entire wedding from Australia and had never been to Mt Vernon or seen the property before. David & Amanda were fantastic and very helpful with any of my questions and really made everything super easy. If you are planning your wedding here, I definitely suggest you book two days or more we stayed for four nights. It was such a wonderful way to spend time and connect with all of our family & friends before & after the wedding and really made the wedding day itself very relaxed as we didn’t need to rush around trying to catch up to everyone. The function area is very large, clean, and well equipped with everything you need. There is also a lovely outside area. They also have great games for everyone to play after the ceremony and a great outdoor area in front of the lodge for drinks and canapes after the ceremony. All of our friends and family commented on how great their rooms were, super comfy beds, all were very modern and clean. The lodge area was a great meeting place for everyone, and we had a BBQ for all our family and friends the following day. This area had plenty of fridge space and a very well stocked kitchen you could cater for a lot of people. Also a beauty firepit for everyone to sit and talk on a cold night. I cannot thank you both enough for such an amazing day and helping us to create such beautiful memories with friends & family.
