Hotel Gasthof Grüner Wald

My booked room (regular customer) was rented out by the owner to another customer even though he had not received a cancellation from me. Since we are regular customers, he knew exactly that when we booked a room with him, we would always arrive no matter how late. If we did not arrive, we would cancel the room with him. Normally he does not take care of the booked rooms, as this work is done by his employee. She processes the inquiries. In this accommodation there is no reception that is manned all day, only in the morning. The keys are in the mailboxes or, because of Corona, next to a room list, where it is written exactly which customer gets which room. The customer therefore serves himself. The owner can be found next door in the pub. If there are problems with the room or television, etc., you have to go to the pub. I have called him in the pub several times to tell him that I would be late. But here he always said that it was no problem, the keys were in the hotel anyway and each customer could serve themselves. So I thought, okay, then you don't need to call today, but I was wrong. The room was gone when I arrived that evening at around 10 p.m. for an appointment. He told me over the phone that since he wasn't there himself, he had rented the room out because he thought I wouldn't be coming. He was never interested in our arrival time. Then he offered me an upgrade at the Alter Hof, which he is or was the owner of. The suite was a disgrace. The bathroom and the room smelled very strongly of mustiness. It was so intense, I couldn't sleep a wink. So much for an upgrade. The next day I was exhausted, no wonder I hardly slept, so I had to get on with my daily work routine.
