From the moment I arrived, I felt as if I had stepped into another world: untouched nature, breathtaking beaches, a serene atmosphere, and a warmth that comes not only from the sun but above all from the people. Every single moment here was unique. Whether exploring the stunning surroundings or simply pausing to take it all in, Nihi carries a kind of magic that cannot be described – it has to be lived. It is without a doubt the most beautiful place I have ever had the privilege to see, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. What made this stay truly unforgettable were also the people. Marthen, Duss, Hafido, Putri, Victoria, and Sabine filled every encounter with kindness, care, and joy. They made me feel not just like a guest but like a part of Nihi. Their warmth, authenticity, and passion for this extraordinary place turned my stay into something truly special. Nihi is not just a hotel – it is an experience, a journey to yourself, a place that enchants and transforms you. I am endlessly grateful for my time here, and I can say with full conviction: it was magical, incredibly beautiful, unique, and simply indescribable. ✨

A magical stay at Nihi Sumba in our Puncak Sumba House, where every detail was close to perfection. From the warm airport welcome, we were captivated by the island’s wild beauty and the kindness of Asna and Lian, our captain and butler. Unforgettable moments: • Witnessing the release of baby turtles back into the ocean during the happy hours at the boathouse. • Visiting an English class funded by the hotel and having the privilege to present Switzerland to a hundred attentive and curious students – a moving human exchange we will never forget. • Enjoying the sumptuous Sumba Foundation buffet, of truly exceptional quality. I waited until 24 hours after leaving NIHI Sumba before I sat down to write this review as I felt I needed to process just how special this island and this resort is. It is the sort of place where you feel a little conflicted even leaving a review, on one hand wanting to keep NIHI Sumba to yourself so it always remains this special, and on the other wanting to tell people that if they can they need to experience it! We travelled to NIHI Sumba in August as part of a celebratory trip for my 50th birthday. We are a family of five, with three boys two of whom are teenagers and one who is ten. Each of us was similarly blown away by our five nights at this incredible resort. From the fantastic welcome at the airport, to the unique journey to NIHI through the wild and unspoiled landscape, and the unforgettable first glimpses of the resort. The welcome remained just as warm when we arrived and we were shown to our beautiful and spacious villas. The landscape around the resort is immaculate, and the beach just needs to be seen to be believed. We got the chance to experience many things here that were firsts - surfing for the boys, baby turtles being released, incredible waterfalls, walks to an unbelievably beautiful spa through traditional Sumbanese villages, swimming in the ocean with horses, and more. There is also plenty to keep you entertained outside of the numerous activities such as yoga, Padel, pickleball, table tennis and a pool table. Yet at the same time we were able to fully relax and switch off from the world. Exactly what a holiday should be. Before we arrived I was a little concerned about going somewhere where the food is all-inclusive as this can often mean lower quality. I needn't have worried though as every meal we had was fantastic. There are different themes every night, and the extensive menus and choices mean there is always something for everyone. All of the ingredients were incredibly fresh and tasty. I am going to struggle to go back to pre-prepared sushi having tasted it from fish caught that same morning! To experience all of this and then to see the impact that NIHI and the Sumba Foundation are having on the people of Sumba made our stay even more important. From providing education and healthcare to the local communities, and making very meaningful improvements in fighting malaria and malnutrition, it is amazing to also be supporting something with so much purpose. It seems unfair to single out individuals as every member of staff was amazing! However, I cannot thank our Guest Captains Doris, Adji, and Alce enough for how well they looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble, and we always knew where to turn if we needed something. We even contacted them after we had left our holiday on Sumba and were in Bali and realised we left behind something that was extremely precious to our ten year old. Nihi has the best service and hospitality I’ve ever experienced. They truly go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They made us feel so special for our honeymoon with all the details they provided. They decorated our room, sat us in a table decorated with flowers for dinner, and upgraded us to the best spa room. It felt like they were celebrating with us. Maxy and Vera, our coaches during our stay, took care of all our needs and made our stay so stress free. Perfect location for a honeymoon and definitely worth the trip from Los Angeles.

One of the best trips I've had so far, the beach was just amazing unlike any other beach in the world. Took us only 1 hour flight from bali yet we arrived on a very different island unlike bali here at sumba. Horses are so cute and just made the trip perfect. Foods are nice and the rooms as well. The team that handled us Petrus, doris and Dinda are the MVP super friendly and literally available 24/7
