Hotel Alpenruhe - Vintage Design Hotel

Very nice hotel in beautiful Wengen. Very helpful staff and delicious breakfast. While it may not be the biggest of hotels, it more than compensate with a great team of staff. Hotel is situated at the top of a slope but the very helpful staff was extremely helpful in giving us a ride both to and from the hotel.

The view of amazing, location was fantastic. Breakfast was great with great view.

My husband and I have just returned home after a truly wonderful week in beautiful Wengen. We celebrated our twenty fifth wedding anniversary there as it’s where we spent our honeymoon. Wengen is a very special place and staying at the hotel Alpenruhe added to our joy of being in Wengen again. Andreas and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming and you feel very much at home and relaxed there. Nothing is too much trouble. We appreciated lifts to and from the station with our heavy luggage on arrival and check out. The location of the hotel as other reviews have mentioned is out of the town away from the station and tourist hustle and bustle but only a short walk into Wengen along a pleasant route. I would highly recommend a mountain balcony view which is breathtaking and absolutely stunning, hard to take your eyes off it! The hotel is very comfortable and absolutely immaculate. The breakfast is relaxed and a very healthy selection of breads and cheeses and homemade jams, croissants and fruit and eggs which my husband and I enjoyed. We also very much enjoyed the lovely garden and ate our lunch from the Coop there a few times. We especially enjoyed the honesty bar and selection of local wines which were very good. It was a truly wonderful week in Wengen and I shed a tear when it was time to leave. We hope to return again one day to this beautiful place and thank all of the staff at hotel Alpenruhe with heartfelt gratitude for making our stay so very special.

Gorgeous local hotel, could not have been better. We had a cosy room with an amazing view overlooking the mountains. Very good breakfast every morning. Restaurants for dinner are only a few minutes’ walk away. The hotel gives you a discount at the largest ski rental shop in the town and, as an extra bonus, free storage in the shop meaning we could pick up our boots and skis each morning from the rental shop and be almost immediately on the slopes, without having to carry them through town back to the hotel. This made the whole skiing experience much more enjoyable! Andreas was really welcoming, he also picked us up and dropped us off at the train station when we arrived and left at the start and end of our holiday.

We stayed here for 5 nights. This is an affordable nice place to stay. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice and the view of the Alps is beyond explaining. They will pick you up at the train if you request. Breakfast is good too.

Great location with fantastic staff, room is *very* small, and lacks ammenities compared to what i expect, there's just hand soap and that's it. Not sure if this is normal or not, but every hotel I've been too has had toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, tea making facilities etc. Was kinda a bummer because it meant I had to go buy big bottles that I could only use once or twice.

My husband and I had amazing stay at the Alpenruhe! First off, do yourself a favor and call ahead to have them meet you at the train station in their adorable little van. I felt like I was working my dinner off every night when we climbed the hill back to the hotel, and I’m so glad I didn’t have to climb it with three weeks worth of luggage. Given all that luggage and our length of stay (6 nights), I was glad I had booked one of their larger rooms. I took a peek at one of the standard ones and they were pretty small. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the view from the balcony was outstanding (minus the construction crane, but that’s not their fault). Fear not if you book a room without a mountain view as their garden out front is a little slice of heaven. Breakfast is incredible and the hotel staff is warm and accommodating. My only criticism is that I could hear movement in the hallway and above us; we were glad to have our travel sound machine. Wengen is a gem, too; it’s far less crowded than some of the other towns (Grindelwald, I’m looking at you). We loved Wengen and the Alpenruhe and would happily return.

Property is old but clean. Mountain view spectacular. Staff are great. My shower stall very small. Close to train station, but hotel on a hill. Loved my stay.
