My son and I visited Wolseley lodge for our first fishing trip together. The location is great but what makes this place are the owners Scott and Mandy Weston. Their friendliness and their desire to please was both obvious and genuine. Our cabin was perfect and had everything we needed. Exactly what we expected for a fishing lodge. Our dinners prepared by Scott were excellent and plentiful. Scott and Mandy made sure they came to check on us and make sure we were happy with everything. Excellent service! The staff at the boathouse were always friendly and eager to help and made sure we had a clean well maintained boat with plenty of bait. Equipment at the lodge was very well maintained dnd we had no issues at all with anything. I highly recommend hiring a guide on the first day. The river is big and without guidance, you could go home without any fish. We did see people who didn’t catch anything. We hired Carter who was great with my 14 year old son and put us onto some amazing fishing and set us up for the rest of our week and we did great! Both on the main river and rapids as we did on the wolseley river. The little pike in that back bay kept us busy. We had walleye for our shore lunches and caught enough to bring a limit home. All in all an amazing experience and we will surely be back!

Stayed here for a week in August 2007 and was not impressed. The cabin floor was very un-level from the back to the front and 2 rooms had no glass in the window frames. The fridge did not keep things cool and we had to use our own coolers topped with ice for the week at our own expense. The bathroom had spider webs with resident spiders behind the toilet and the sink. The beds in two rooms were held together with 2 x 4s and would wobble with any movement at all. I found the owner was a little arrogant to his guests and when they had an all you can eat buffet he was extremely stingy with the portions of meat that he would cut for the guests. This is the upper French river and the fishing is not as good as the lower French. I would recommend any other lodge on the French besides this one.

the reviews I see here made me choose this place. That was an error on my part.At check in you pay in full before you see the disappointment that lays ahead. The cabin is old ,ten feet from the one beside you ,no view and a total old cramped one bedroom cabin made into three over the last fifty years.Sitting on the toilet you can rest your head on the door. Total disappointment its a dump. For over 1k for three nights this is the epitomy of overpaying. No one asked how was your stay or how was the fishing they know the answer not good.Go elsewhere it couldnt be worse.

We've have an annual trip (13 of us) to the French for the last 9 years, the past 2 at Wolseley lodge. The cabins are very old and basic, but have all the necessary amenities for a great trip. The property is crowded but well maintained. The body of water is great with the fishing varying greatly from season to season. Overall I wish I could love going here, but we're headed elsewhere this year. The problem is the owner, Harold. He has absolutely no interest in anything but your wallet. He is rude, inconsiderate, and attempts to corner you at every opportunity into booking for the next year. He treats the kids like an inconvenience. Its too bad as the property has great potential and we love the area. His wife is a lovely lady. He should stick to maintenance and let her deal with the guests, it'd be a much better experience. We're going back to the area this year, but happily and excitedly elsewhere.

My husband and I have been going to the French river for over 20 years. We always stop at wolseley lodge for a drink before and breakfast when were leaving and have purchased their t shirts and a very nice coat over $ 100.00 last year Well the visit this year was very far from pleasant ... On our departure we made our usual stop for breakfast and was very rudely told by the owners wife " we don't serve the public " and I inquired when did you start that I was told 3 years ago. I said that's funny since we got breakfast here last year and every year before that. I asked if I could at least get a cup of coffee for the road and the owner loudly sighed rolled her eyes and sent her husband over to talk to me again stating we don't serve the public (didnt stop them from selling me a $ 100.00 coat and t shirts last year)) He also asked where I was staying.. (Whatever that matters) He told me breakfast is over. That was 8:30 am with people still seated and being served and the kitchen help cooking in the back. Their website states they do serve the public ??? False advertisement... I really could have done without the eye rolling and disrespect from these people.... Ive never been so humiliated . It wasn't called for at all and I could have done without the lies. Like I said they served us last year and informed me they haven't served the public for 3 years ? If their going to run a business at least show people a little respect. I also work with the public and the way I was treated was dispicable Everyone in noelville is so friendly, except the owners of the wolseley bay lodge. This is NOT the way to run a business. Shame on you !

My Brother and I spend the long weekend at Wolseley lodge for a fishing trip. It was our first visit to the lodge and we would certainly go back. The food was absolutely fantastic (we were on the meal plan), and the cottage was clean and comfortable with screens on all windows to keep the evening bugs at bay. The cottages should however, have large fans provided (they do tell you in advance to bring your own), but it is hard to pack a large fan. Regarding the fishing, if you want to catch fish – book a guide for your first day! If you don’t you will likely not catch anything.

Excellent lodge, owners and staff were very friendly and attentive. We had no problems with anything, all the cabins and boats and motors were very well maintained. Every time we went to the boat someone would ask us if we needed anything and would help us get underway. We had the meal plan and would highly recommend it. Meals were very well organized and food was plentiful and delicious!!! Can’t think of anything that could have been better!!!

My cousin and I wanted to get away from the city and spend a weekend fishing. We had heard that the French River was a good spot,so we looked around the area and found the Wolseley Lodge. After calling the Lodge and talking to Mandy, I decided to book a weekend adventure. She was very helpful and very nice to talk to .When we arrived at the lodge,,wow,,what scenery. The lodge is very clean and the cabins are also very nice and rustic. The staff are also super nice.Scott, Mandy's husband and other half, was also very down to earth and easy to talk to.. then there's Roger and Dan in the boathouse, Awesome guy;s..Thanks guys.2 thumbs up..Then there is Lisa in the kitchen, who was very helpful. Then there is the cabins,,,super clean and comfortable.. The only downfall I felt was the mattress, definitely needs replacement. Apart from that,,we enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back Keep up the good work, 2 thumbs up Marc Porteous Gerry Mather

Thank you Mandy and Scott! It was a pleasure meeting you both and it was a pleasure spending the time up at Wolseley Lodge this September. We really enjoyed the arrangements and the hospitality offered by you and your staff. Our 3-night stay at Wolseley Lodge (Americana Package) was an unforgettable experience. The resort with the amenities provided the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure (boating/fishing in the scenic areas of the French River), amenities of the site, and gourmet indulgence! The housekeeping and upkeep of all amenities including our cabin cleanliness, was commendable. The resort's dining area offered picturesque views of the lake, enhancing the dining experience. From hearty breakfasts and pre-arranged 'lunch box (great touch) that fueled us for a day of fishing to gourmet dinners, and a dinner of "local pickerel" (catch of the day), every meal was a delightful surprise. Fishing was great. Pike (all sizes), bass, and pickerel...we won't complain. Thank you for the live bait provided (we used minnows and worms), and we took advantage of the ‘Fish Cleaning Hut’ to fillet our first catch (pickerel/walleye). Wolseley Lodge and the services of the resort, whether you're an avid angler or simply seeking a tranquil escape, was the ideal destination. We left with a heart full of gratitude and a promise to return next year. Anyone looking for a memorable getaway filled with good food, comfortable accommodations, and great people,… make Wolseley Lodge a part of your travels. Our thanks to the entire team at Wolseley for making this trip one for the books. Best of luck with your new business venture and enjoy your off-season. We wish you the best and we look forward to meeting you again, next year! DV
