Was always intrigued by this hotel on many visits to Weston as a child but never stayed there. So on a spur of the moment visit with my partner decided to treat us to a night here £96 a night plus £10 parking would not be our usual budget. Nice reception area, friendly staff, so my expectations of a nice room were fairly high, Received the keys and off we went, Out of the tiny lift we encountered doors with paint crumbling off, got to ours room 221 door looked like it had a new lock fitted but old lock still on door very messy. Got into room first impression was the size of it, have stayed in travelodge for £30 and had a bigger room. Appreciate not everybody can have a sea view but ours was looking onto the rooftops of the back of the hotel. Went back to reception and calmly explained my disappointment to the lad on reception, he immediately looked to see what else was available and gave us a family room on the 4th floor, this was a better room and about a third bigger, it contained a double bed and a single bed, the tiny tv was placed on a wall in front of the single bed, so if your a couple wanting to watch tv in bed that is not possible. Breakfast is a buffet type thing in the dining hall, no complaints here, well organised, good food. Would definitely not consider staying here again as VERY poor value, there were much cheaper options available which I’m sure would have been better than this place. Overall a very disappointing experience when I had always looked at this hotel in awe as a child
