Such a lovely place , so accommodating, there was a big group of us for Sunday roast , nothing was a problem , Tess could not do enough for us likewise the lovely staff , food was lovely , rooms immaculate, a traditional pub in old Windsor, highly recommended

Disappointed. The landlady is really nice but unfortunately the rooms were not up to standard at all. It isn’t a 4 star hotel. Really is false advertising! My parents paid for their room whereas we had a voucher. After we left my mother told me their bathroom had a hole in the wall! The floors were filthy. It is very run down! And in desperate need of TLC! Such a shame !

Called in today at lunchtime, doors wide open so walked in to be greeted with an empty pub. After walking around came across a rather large man sitting at a table so asked if he was the landlord, he replied yes , I then asked if they were open to which he replied “ no we open at 2” . I’ve never been spoken to so abruptly when I’ve asked a simple civil question in a pub that appears open. Will never go back whilst the ignorant man is there

I was looking for accommodations for a couple nights that was close to the Windsor Central rail station as well as Windsor Castle and the Union Inn was perfect. Uber fares ranged from $7-$9, from the Inn to the station, Windsor Castle or the Magna Carta. Let me tell you about the great experience I had at the Inn. I arrived early after arriving on train from London. I arrived several hours before check in but I was met outside by a "long stay" client who offered me a cup of coffee while I waited. It was not long before the proprietress Tess, came out and let me know I could check in as soon as the housekeeper was finished. I had a wonderful ensuite double room on the second floor above the restaurant and pub. I had planned to spend Wednesday and Thursday in Old Windsor, attend Windsor Castle an Wednesday and Magna Carta on Thursday, however the Castle is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday! I was traveling solo and after a full day I saddled up to the pub bar where I was welcomed by the locals. They advertise a pub style menu, which sounds limited but in reality they had a delightful selection of choices for dinner. A traditional English breakfast is available in the morning and I took advantage of it both days. After a long day in the Castle on Thursday I looked forward to dinner at the Inn and it did not disappoint. The highlight of the evening occurred when I approached a group of locals that included a very attractive woman that strongly resembled an Australian friend of mine. I will include her picture. I hope I do not get in trouble, :) I was fortunate to join them for dinner. (I think I actually invited myself), regardless they were very welcoming and I did not have to spend the evening by myself and regretted that I was leaving in the morning. Fun fact: ask Tess about her modeling career and how Hugh Hefner bought a photograph taken by her uncle who was a noted photographer. Another fun fact; Sir Elton John's house is about a half mile down the road.

Had a lovely little stay here, a short distance for lovely walks in the great park, the staff were friendly and happy to help with what we needed. The rooms were a good size and was easy to fall asleep in their double bed. The shower was hot with great water pressure however the handle turned the opposite of what you'd think to adjust the controls and a bit of maintenance in the bathroom wouldn't go a miss. Honestly the size of the bathroom probably would have been better with a luxury bath but the walk in shower also works for those who prefer a shower. Generally very clean, exception being the shower fan that needs dusting as two of the bathroom lights didn't work I feel over time moisture has probably built-up in there and playing havoc with the electrics. Breakfast was really fantastic bacon was lovely, mushrooms were great really filling to start the day. Aesthetically the pub has well maintained floral displays outside with a nice seating area facing out to a field, inside decor had a great selection of old movie posters and an eclectic mix of things to look at.

Turned up to the hotel, was not what we expected. It’s an old fashioned pub/hotel. Unstable floorboards, noisy (combination of cars on the main road, airplanes and neighbours) and dirty carpets. Windsor is approximately a 50 minute walk away. Would describe the hotel as more of a hostel.

The buyagift website I booked this ‘hotel’ via describes it as having ‘stylish interiors and elegant decor’ Nothing could be further from the truth! We were shocked by the complete lack of any style or design in our room. Going upstairs the carpets are threadbare and filthy. The state of the carpets continues in the bedroom where we were reluctant to take off our shoes. No bedside lamps, no headboard, no Wi-Fi code apparent in the room. Had to go and ask for a code and the Wi-Fi was patchy at all times with one bar. My husband wanted to leave straight away but I convinced home to stay as we had an event locally the next day. It turned out to be the worst nights sleep ever. A worn out mattress with springs poking into us. Warped ill fitting Venetian blinds letting early morning light in. The music downstairs went on around 7am. We didn’t want to use the shower as the shower head looked like a water contamination issue! The radiator leaked and made a huge puddle on the floor. No coat hooks on the doors, just some mismatched plastic hangars on a rail. So unkempt and uncared for when it’s location and size could make it a stunning pub with rooms. I presume it was the landlord who didn’t have a smile or a greeting, just a scowl. The landlady however was very pleasant and the food decent pub grub. We didn’t stay the second night.

What a great place to stay! Traditional pub with rooms above. Our room was clean and comfortable with a good shower. Breakfast was lovely, cooked by the landlady Tessa who we could have spoken to for ages. She gave us a really warm welcome, very friendly and chatty. The pub always had people in it, with a chef there from Wednesday night. We stayed for 2 nights, to visit the castle and family. Windsor is in walking distance. We also visited Eton, which was quaint. Would definitely recommend.
