Lovely pub, fantastic food, good choice of drinks and most importantly fantastic welcoming staff. Had fish and chips which were really good. Good portion size. Can't say enough though about how good the staff were.

We had a fabulous stay here from Monday to Thursday last week. We loved the room (at the back of the hotel so very quiet), the extremely comfortable bed and the rather impressive bathroom! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts and dinners ( we ate there on two nights) were very good. Some of the choices on the dinner menu were interesting and unusual. It's ideally located for visiting the Arne Nature Reserve which was our prime reason for choosing Wareham. We'd definitely like to stay again!

Pros: room was of a high standard and very clean, the ordered breakfast was tasty and fresh (plus a nice option to sit outside on the patio), and the location was great to explore the local area. Cons: we stayed when there was a (British) heat wave - around 28 - 32°C. The room was very warm and the fan provided was inadequate - you could only set it for a maximum of 2 hours, so we had to constantly get up in the middle of the night to avoid being uncomfortable. Unfortunately, this meant we did not sleep that well because it was quite hot in the room. Separately, I think there should have been a few more items on the buffet breakfast as some may want smaller breakfasts. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again if I was in in the local area (and have recommended), but the heat was uncomfortable and I think air-conditioning should be considered in the rooms. We are, after all, getting increasingly hotter summers!

If you are looking for a place to stay so you can access all the wonders of this part of the world, then simply look no further. From the moment of arrival the service you get from the whole team is a credit to the management. The food is unpretentious, skilfully prepared and delicious, the breakfast too, all perfect sized portions, served hot. Other than the fact that we have already recommended this hotel to others and we will be back next time we are near Wareham, there's not much more I can add, other than a big THANK YOU! to the whole team.

Wonderful stay. Sadly only one night, very comfortable bed, good food and the staff couldn't have been friendlier and accommodating. Will definitely return one day!

It’s actually silly, but I just could not find even the smallest thing that was unsatisfactory or amiss on our overnight stay at the Bear in Wareham. It was a perfect overnight stay in every way. This was a couples break on transit to see family in early December, we turned up in a huge downpour. Luckily we were able to quickly park directly outside to unload the car and then the (public and free overnight) car park is a 30 second walk from reception. The reception staff greet you with warmth and genuine friendliness and the immaculate detail and beautiful corridor that strides out ahead of you confirms that you have made a good choice in your booking. To the right, a cosy bar and dining area with a Christmas tree, roaring log burner and a real invitational warmth beckon you in. We were fortunate to stay in Aloysius with its stunning bathroom centralised around a shimmering copper bath tub. The room was spacious, immaculate and the bed was truly the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Let’s not forget that a good nights sleep is an absolute must when staying in a strange room for a night. The food and local seasonal menu in the hotel, coupled with a great drink selection really is the work of talented chefs and compliments the high standards of this hotel perfectly. We had the most enjoyable meal of recent times taking full advantage of the fish courses on the main and specials menu that night. We make the trip to family a good few times a year and whilst not directly en route, this fantastic hotel will be worth the extra diversion next time. A big “Thank you” to all the staff at the Bear (but especially Abby, Alice and Linda). You really made our stay perfect in every way and we were buzzing when we left. We can’t wait to come back.

We absolutely loved staying at the Bear! We booked one night away for a birthday. It’s newly renovated with quirky touches-very instagramable (haha!) we stayed in the Paddington room which looks out onto the high street. Beautiful huge yellow bed which was soooo cosy and the room had tea and coffee facilities and you could request fresh milk. I’m dairy free and they were happy to provide soya for me. We ate in the bar for dinner and the food was AMAZING! we were lucky and had eat out To help out but would 100% come again and pay full price! (Would recommend the burger oh and Brownie for pudding!) Breakfast was included with our room and you get unlimited toast yogurt and fruit as well as hot drinks/orange juice and then can pick a dish of the menu!! We were so full! The hotel links with lovecake cafe in swanage where we’ve had their amazing cakes before so couldn’t leave without taking some for the journey! Did not disappoint!!! The staff were all so friendly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable during our stay! We would love to return! There’s also so much to do around Wareham too, we asked the hotel for advice and they recommended loads to do! We walked round the river in Wareham, there’s boats/paddle boards/kayaks to hire too although it was too windy when we went to it was closed. Corfe castle and swanage is less than 15 minute drive. We also went to the blue pool and chapmans Cliff which were lovely to walk round too!

This was our second time staying at the Bear Inn, this time bringing my Dad as a birthday treat. We loved our second stay and he loved his first stay. The rooms are superb, the beds comfortable and the bedrooms and bathrooms spotless. My Dad couldn't get over how lovely the hotel was and how wonderful all the stay were.
