Guest UserWhen I was choosing accommodation in Wutai Mountain, this place immediately caught my eye.
The service was truly exceptional. Whether it was the butler or other staff members, everyone was incredibly enthusiastic. Any questions or requests were always addressed and resolved promptly.
The hotel environment is also very good. There are activities on the first floor that you can participate in, and the second floor even has a singing bowl space, which creates a very peaceful atmosphere.
We stayed in the 'Red Rattan Cane' room type, which offered a very expansive view. A fruit platter was delivered to our room every day, but it would be even better if the fruit selection were more carefully chosen – on the second day, the strawberries in the platter had mold on them 😧.
Breakfast was a semi-buffet. While the variety wasn't extensive, the taste felt very home-style, and the Wutai Mushroom and Pork Pancake was delicious! 🤤
During our three days in Wutai Mountain, we basically had all our meals at the hotel. The preserved egg and tofu was delicious and very unique. The meatball soup is perfect for those who prefer lighter flavors. Among the two hot pot options, I'd recommend the 'Special Warm Pot' more. In contrast, the 'Wutai Mushroom and Chicken Soup Hot Pot' mostly contained chicken bones, which was a bit disappointing 🤦♀️.

The homestay I chose this time is in the scenic area, very close to the south gate, and the location is absolutely perfect! You can drive to Wuye Temple and Shuxiang Temple in 10 minutes. The room is designed with log style, the mountain view on the roof is very good, sitting on the rooftop and drinking tea to see the scenery is particularly healing. The boss is a local, sent a detailed pilgrimage guide in advance, and also helped to make an appointment for the vehicle to enter the mountain, saving a lot of trouble. The bedding is clean and soft, the bathroom has a smart toilet and aromatherapy, and the details are full. If you come to Wutai Mountain to play, I highly recommend this one, the price is super high! (The boss is too enthusiastic, has been recommending all kinds of delicious food, as well as tourist routes, help with luggage, next time I come to live here!)

The boss is very good, stayed for about 20 days. The first time I lived in the room downstairs, I changed to the room upstairs when I lived. Especially warm, the boss is very good. My brother's feet were broken, but when I returned to Beijing, I was broken. Thanks to the boss's reminder, I must go to the hospital to check it. During the stay, the temples in the core scenic area of Wutai Mountain were almost all worshipped. When returning to the room, the boss will make up the water. It is very convenient to go to the core scenic area from the homestay. If there are Tibetans staying, it will be particularly lively.

Guest UserThis birch forest guesthouse was such a great choice! ✨ The location is excellent, making it easy to walk or take a car to all the temples. The room was clean and tidy, and the soft bedding made for a wonderfully restful sleep. The fresh air system throughout the house made for a very comfortable stay. The facilities are new, and the decor is elegant and peaceful. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. As a family traveling with kids, we felt safe and relaxed. I highly recommend this place when visiting Wutaishan!

Guest UserExtremely satisfied! The guesthouse's underfloor heating was wonderfully warm; compared to the November heat outside, I really wanted to stay inside! 😆 The triple double room was incredibly comfortable and clean. The owner is kind and helpful; he guided us on our route before we even left, helped us book transportation, monitored our arrival progress, and patiently explained how to explore the area, providing a very detailed itinerary. The next day, we went to Dongtai Peak to watch the sunrise, but unexpectedly, our car broke down around 5 am. The owner found a solution for us, personally driving us to a repair shop and arranging for someone to come and fix it. He was a lifesaver, ensuring we didn't miss the magnificent sunrise. We are so grateful! All my colleagues in the group were very thankful and insisted on giving a positive review! If we visit Wutai Mountain again, we will definitely stay here again and recommend it to others! Great and very nice!

TAN BOON LIANG BERNARDThis is our first time visiting Wutaishan and we stayed here for 5 nights. We came here by a direct bus from Beijing and the hotel picked us from the bus terminal in Wutaishan. The hotel driver was helpful and polite. We were greeted by 2 pleasant front desk ladies upon check in. We received a beads bracket gift and welcome fruit plate .
During the first day we had an issue with the air conditioning unit in our room and they changed our room the very next day.
The hotel is located just off a busy street with lots of restaurants and shops. There is also a shuttle bus stop just around the corner. There are many famous temples here all within walking distance from the hotel. There is a restaurant in the hotel and the food is delicious and we had a meal served in our room.
The lady boss (who we didn’t meet) provided us with information for our trip planning and helped us to book a land tour of the 5 mountains.
Lastly we would like to compliment the 2 front desk staff, the 2 cleaning staff and the driver for their enthusiastic attitude and service.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

What was most disappointing about this stay wasn't a broken piece of equipment or simply a late room delivery, but rather the hotel management's arrogant, shirking, and inactionary attitude when faced with problems.
We booked three suites for two nights. The hotel's policy is a 12 PM checkout and 2 PM check-in. We arrived at 10:30 AM to check-in, but two suites weren't ready until around 4:30 PM, and the last one wasn't available until almost 5 PM. The duty manager, Becky, repeatedly explained that ”the previous guest only checked out at 3 PM.” However, a previous guest's late checkout, room status coordination, and housekeeping are all internal management issues for the hotel and should not be borne by the next guest.
After checking in, we encountered a heating problem. At that time, the nighttime temperature in Mount Wutai was close to or even below 0℃. The hotel's in-room air conditioning system was off, and we had to rely on in-room heaters. The heater in one of the rooms was broken. Maintenance and management staff were slow to arrive, and we waited in the room for the duty manager for over 30 minutes, eventually having to switch rooms. The lobby manager, Manager Chen, explained that ”the hotel is relatively old,” and for the waiting time, stated that ”the front desk was busy, and this is considered a reasonable wait.”
Even more outrageous, on the morning of September 30th, the guest in room 8228 went to the front desk in person to report being unable to sleep due to insect noise all night, and also had multiple obvious red swollen areas on their neck. The front desk took photos on the spot, provided a plug-in mosquito repellent, and stated that they would arrange for a re-cleaning of the room. However, during the afternoon discussion, the lobby manager still insisted that it might not be mosquito bites, but rather that ”the guest has a special constitution and is allergic.”
Throughout the entire communication process, hotel management almost consistently explained why the problems were ”not the hotel's responsibility”:
Late room delivery – blamed on the previous guest's late checkout;
Manager's slow arrival – blamed on the busy front desk;
Broken equipment – blamed on the hotel being old;
Suspected mosquito bites – blamed on the guest's constitution;
Cold room – stated there was no other solution.
The lobby manager even repeatedly emphasized that ”the hotel is not a five-star hotel” and ”does not have a five-star rating, so it cannot be expected to meet five-star hotel standards.” However, the hotel itself is sold as a 5-diamond high-end hotel on Ctrip and is also under the Marriott brand. Guests were not asking for extra courtesies, but simply the most basic: rooms delivered on time, equipment functioning, heating when temperatures are near zero, and prompt resolution of issues when they arise.
I want to particularly state that this review is not about compensation.
The hotel did propose some compensation options during the process, but we ultimately did not accept any financial compensation, room rate reduction, or other benefits. Until our departure, hotel management did not offer a serious and formal apology for these issues.
What I truly found unacceptable was the arrogance, inaction, and continuous shirking of responsibility displayed by the hotel staff when faced with problems. Old equipment can be repaired, late rooms can be coordinated, but if a hotel management team lacks even the most basic attitude of admitting fault, taking responsibility, and solving problems, that is the most serious issue.
Objectively speaking, the hotel restaurant service was very good, and Jeremy from concierge was also very responsible. These employees deserve recognition. However, the guest room operations and the way management handled guest complaints fell far short of my basic expectations for the Marriott brand.

It was my first time to go to Mount Wutai. I was a little confused after reading the guide. There were many problems with every hotel. I finally chose this one, thinking that it was at least relatively close.
The whole family was very satisfied with the result. The room was super spacious and there were many original crystal ornaments. The view was probably the best. The Big White Pagoda was under construction and the Small White Pagoda could be seen.
It is very convenient to park on Dailuoding and Dicos, and it is also very quiet at night.
The car entered Wutai Mountain but failed to make a reservation. We entered successfully under the guidance of the boss.
All in all, I am very satisfied and have recommended it to my friends. I will continue to stay at his house next time.
