L'Ghorfa

We recently had a fantastic 7 night stay at Ghorfa. Giancarlo and Anita are excellent hosts and immediately made us feel at home. The property is beautiful and the rooms modern and well equipped. The pool is large, warm and well maintained. Breakfast was consistently a highlight with homemade croissants and quality coffee; we also opted for a fish dinner one evening which tasted incredible. With Xaghra being in the centre of Gozo, it’s well situated to explore the island and is in walking distance of several highly rated restaurants. Highly recommended!

We had some great days at Anitas and Giancarlos Place. Really lovely and courteous people. Good individual Breakfast and clean rooms. The view over Victoria is amazing!! We would come back one day!! Everything good for the two!! Best regards Nicole and Marcus

Our 10-night stay at L’Ghorfa was far from being a “disaster”! A lovely, traditional-style B&B, with kind and fun hosts, in a perfect spot – just 10 minutes’ walk from the main square, and with beautiful views across to Victoria and the Citadel. A good location for exploring Gozo, as a good bus system runs to most places out of Victoria, which is 10 mins by bus or 20 mins on foot from L’Ghorfa. We had a lovely big room and terrace, with a fantastic view. The attractive square in Xaghra has a good selection of restaurants and bars/cafes, serving high quality food and drink. Giancarlo and Anita are the perfect hosts, and certainly ‘go the extra mile’, with lifts to and from the ferry, welcome drinks, useful information and much more. We swam in the pool 3 times (even though Giancarlo thought we were crazy, so early in the season, but we explained we are just English!!). We enjoyed meeting the other guests too; as L’Ghorfa just has 3 rooms, it feels rather like a little family. We were here on our delayed honeymoon (2 years later than planned, because of Covid) and it was very special, and worth the wait. We’re now wondering how soon we can go back!

L'Ghorfa is a place created with kindness to guests, full of positive vibrations, with the unprecedented hospitality of the Hosts. If you're planning a slow-paced rest, don't hesitate! The Hosts - Anita and Giancarlo - provide excellent conditions for relaxation! The facility offers 3 rooms, and thus a family atmosphere. The Hosts are happy to help, give good advice and smile, without imposing themselves. Breakfasts are varied, plentiful and delicious (from local cheeses, through local fruit and vegetables, to homemade pastries with freshly brewed coffee). If there is an option to order dinner from the Hosts - be sure to use! Importantly, there is a fridge at guests' disposal, where there is always chilled water/juices. The room with a private terrace (on the top floor of the building, only for guests of room 3) provides a perfect view of the Cittadella. It should be added that the terrace is furnished - there are sun loungers, table and chairs. The room is air-conditioned, comfortable (beds can be folded), with a spacious bathroom, cleaned daily. There is also a swimming pool at guests' disposal - with clean water and a space for sunbathing/relaxing under an umbrella. The property is just a 10-minute walk from Xhagra's main square (restaurants, bars, local fruit shop, basilica). For motorists - there is a lot of parking space in front of the house and there are always free places (which is rare in Gozo). If you want to taste Maltese specialties, be sure to go to the Tal-Furnar restaurant (reservation required at least one day in advance). For other tips, e.g. how to find the most charming beaches, where to eat local meals or where to go to a festival - go to the Hosts for valuable tips☺ The city is safe, there is no fear of a late evening or night.

Excellent location and B&B with lots of added extras. Beautifully restored building with lots of authentic charm. Each room has outside space with stunning views. Great choice for breakfast. Hosts were so generous and helpful. Loved it!
