Mcsrh Hotel (Xi'an Bell and Drum Tower Branch)

The hotel is super close to the station and in a neighbourhood with lots of restaurants. Also close to the main atraction in te centre of Xi’an. Staff did not speak english but was not a problem, chekin was super simple!

Great hotel chain, and you know what you’re getting with the rooms. Slight issue of a few mosquito bites, and not completely central but close to a subway and value for money.

The hotel is ok at best. I appreciate this is rated a 4 star, however, I think this is a 2 star at best. I have stayed at multiple 4 star hotels during our trip to China and this was probably the only one that wouldn’t make the cut. The staff were nice and friendly, the room was ok, the cleaners were ok as well. The room constantly smelled of cigarette smoke and poo. We had to keep the exhaust fan on all night and close the toilet doors. Everytime we came back to the room from being out exploring, the smells came back. The bed was horrible. It felt like a mattress on top of a plank of wood. The wallpaper, whilst I understand probably aimed for a more “hipster” look, just felt dingy. It didn’t feel clean despite knowing and witnessing the cleaners come and go in the mornings. The WiFi was good, but the projector screen we got for the room specifically, had to be paid for, which was odd. We ended up not using it at all.

Service was good. I wouldn't say this is a 4 star, in my opinion more like a 3 star hotel. In the room was a bit of a strange smell, like smell of paint, from the bathroom i could smell a bit of cigarette smoke from the ventilation system.

Great hotel for foreigners. The room was clean and modern. The staff was wonderful with helping me recover a lost selfie stick that was sent via SFExpress. I appreciated that tremendously. The metro is a short walk away. There are many good food options nearby. I’d recommend this hotel for any solo foreign travelers.
