Tongpai Hotel Xi'An Bell Tower Yongning Gate

It's been twenty years since I last visited Xi'an, so this time I specifically chose the Tongpai Hotel next to the Drum Tower. The backyard parking was very convenient. The hotel is about 200 meters from Metro Exit 4, but coming from Exit C of the metro station, you have to navigate underground to Exit 4, which takes about ten minutes. The hotel is then 200 meters from Exit 4. There are indeed many eateries around, but the variety is quite limited – mostly Roujiamo, Lamb Pao Mo, and Biangbiang noodles. After three days, I really couldn't eat them anymore. The 7th floor of the nearby Kaiyuan Mall also has some dining options, like Xijiade Dumplings or Hunan cuisine. There's also a rooftop where you can get a great night view of both the Drum Tower and Bell Tower together. The hotel service was quite good, and the breakfast spread was decent. There were also quite a few foreign guests staying there. The only drawbacks were the poor soundproofing in the rooms and hallways, and the varying quality of guests. Many adults and children with their kids were quite noisy. Even at 2 AM, when guests were checking in, they would be loud in the hallway for over ten minutes. I hope the front desk staff could remind guests upon check-in, especially late at night, to keep the noise down. That would be much better. The hotel's location is excellent; you can take the underground passage from the Bell Tower, and Exit 1 leads directly to the Drum Tower and Muslim Quarter. My impression of Xi'an remains mediocre on this trip. The locals here seem quite blunt and stern; their speech and expressions are often stiff, making them appear ready for a fight or generally unhappy. Don't expect too much from the dining places here, as the service attitude is generally similar. In contrast, the hotel's attitude was much better and friendlier. I personally feel that the Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City is a bit overhyped; there isn't much to see there in reality. It's about 7 kilometers from the hotel by taxi, costing around 20 yuan. Getting a taxi back can be a bit difficult, requiring a longer wait.

The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The room itself was very spacious and bright, and all the facilities felt quite new. Its location is fantastic too, right by the Bell Tower roundabout, and super close to the subway station.

The room was spacious and well-arranged, conveniently located near the Bell Tower, with plenty of great food options right downstairs. My only complaint is that the air conditioning would switch to a 'health mode' in the middle of the night, and Xi'an can get quite hot. The hotel also has many spots where you can find 'Xi'an' written, perfect for photo ops.

Excellent hotel location, comfortable and clean bedding, and a wide variety of breakfast options. The front desk staff is very responsive to requests. Highly recommend.

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center, very close to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower, and Muslim Quarter. The rooms are spacious and newly renovated. There are also many restaurants nearby, especially Wei Jia Liang Pi next door, which has delicious food.

This hotel is conveniently located near the Bell Tower within Xi'an city, making transportation easy and close to the city walls. It's an ideal stay for sightseeing. The hotel facilities, cleanliness, and environment are all excellent. The front desk staff were also very welcoming and patiently showed me different rooms until I was satisfied. Thank you!

Turning left, you can reach Yongning Gate on the city wall in about the same time. The area around the hotel is bustling with local eateries that are very popular with residents. If you head further on and loop around, you'll find yourself on Luomashi Pedestrian Street, which is packed with shops and restaurants. The hotel's main entrance faces South Street, offering numerous bus routes. For those who prefer eco-friendly travel, the bus and subway connections are quite convenient. 2. **Hotel Facilities, Hygiene, and Service:** The hotel staff provide excellent service. The rooms are quite spacious and don't feel cramped, with large, bright windows. The bathroom features a separate wet and dry area, and the fixtures and fittings are of good quality. The front desk, noticing we had a child, proactively offered children's toiletries. The room also came with a 'Xiaodu' smart speaker, which delighted our child, who spent all day giving commands to Xiaodu. Overall, our experience was fantastic. If we have the chance to visit Xi'an again, this hotel will definitely be our top choice.
