Sofitel Xi'an on Renmin Square

We arrived at 12:00, and they allowed us to check in early, which I appreciated. However, the front desk told us we got a two-level upgrade, but the view from the room was awful. There were bugs and mosquitoes everywhere, and with no mosquito repellent or insecticide, it was impossible to stay there. On my first day, I specifically told the cleaning staff that I only needed fresh towels and trash emptied daily, with no room cleaning. Yet, on the third day, they still entered and cleaned the room. It seems they don't communicate guest requests effectively. Is this really a five-star hotel experience? I can understand if hotel facilities are old, but it felt very dirty, and there was no sense of proper maintenance. The price wasn't low, so I don't understand why it's so poorly kept! The transportation is also very inconvenient. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk to the subway station, and the walk back at night is deserted. The courtyard area is dark and quite spooky. For this price, you can definitely find a much better hotel! I was extremely disappointed this time!

The hotel environment is fantastic. It's a real oasis in the city center with a beautiful garden where you can stroll around, and every corner offers a picturesque view. The room was incredibly spacious and offered great value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always opening doors and assisting with luggage. The breakfast spread was extensive and delicious – absolutely worth it!

Extremely satisfied with my stay here! Both the environment and the service completely exceeded what I'd expect for the price. Next time I'm on a business trip, I'll definitely choose Sofitel Gulou again – it's even better than other Sofitels in different cities.

This hotel is absolutely worth a special mention! First off, the location is excellent, with convenient transport links. The accompanying garden is truly unique in Xi'an. The public areas are grand and spacious, and even though it's not a tall building, it has four elevators. Our room itself was fantastic – great size, layout, natural light, and a lovely view, truly feeling like a suite. But the most outstanding highlight is their service. From the doormen and front desk to housekeeping, everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. Any request we had was addressed immediately. We had arranged for a twin bed setup beforehand, and it was all ready when we arrived, which was very thoughtful! Specifically, on our last day, our museum plans changed, and we couldn't get back to the hotel in time for checkout. We spoke to the front desk, and they graciously extended our checkout time on two separate occasions. As an extra touch, the hotel breakfast offers small bowls of *paomo* (a local specialty), which was a nice little bonus.

Overall, this hotel is indeed a bit dated. While the facilities are quite old, Accor Group maintains them pretty well. It's a good place to host foreign guests, and the overall service attitude is decent.

Excellent, highly recommended! The hygiene and facilities are top-notch, including a great swimming pool and gym. The rooms are very spacious, and the service is spot-on. The hotel's location is also fantastic and very convenient. The restaurants within the hotel are delicious – we tried several, and none of them disappointed. Definitely recommend!

Ever since I was little, I'd gaze at the People's Grand Hotel from afar, always feeling like it was a mysterious place I longed to explore. Now, that wish has come true! For a few hundred dollars, I got to stay in this upscale hotel. It boasts a garden-style courtyard, bursting with vibrant flowers and alive with the sounds of birds and cicadas. The breakfast spread is incredibly rich, offering both Chinese and Western options. Parking is super convenient, and they even have a thoughtful car wash station. The room itself is cozy yet grand, fully equipped with everything you need, and wonderfully quiet for sleeping. Inside the courtyard, there's an olive tree, originally brought back by Premier Zhou Enlai, now flourishing beautifully. There are so many great things here that words simply can't capture them all.
