Sky City Cliff Hotel

The hotel is situated on a mountain, so the drive up requires some caution. For a cliffside hotel, the location truly makes a difference. The views from this hotel are absolutely breathtaking! The hotel grounds themselves are beautiful and offer many perfect photo opportunities. We were a group of three girls, and since there were no triple rooms available, we opted for a twin room. The beds were spacious enough for two to share comfortably. Although breakfast was initially for two, the hotel generously provided an extra portion for the third person, which was a lovely gesture. The breakfast spread was quite rich and varied, and the rose soy milk was absolutely delicious! The butler-style service was incredibly thoughtful and personalized. Upon arrival, we were each presented with a Hada scarf, which was a beautiful, ceremonial welcome. The entire room was spotlessly clean, including the bedding, and the bathroom/toilet area was also meticulously maintained – fantastic! The rooms are equipped with an oxygen supply, so you don't need to worry about altitude sickness. We personally didn't experience any major discomfort, which was a relief. One tip: I'd recommend bringing some instant noodles or snacks, as you might get hungry if you miss dinner. Being on a mountain, food delivery isn't an option. However, the hotel does have its own restaurant for meals if you're there during dining hours.

The drive to the hotel involves a 7-kilometer winding mountain road, ascending from 2800m to 3300m. Just as the altitude rises, the hotel's decor, facilities, and service are equally elevated. The rooms are well-equipped and spacious. I particularly loved the private hot spring cabin, situated outdoors, nestled close to nature, offering a refreshing breeze and a direct view of the canyon. Before checking out, I sat on the balcony's lounge chair, watching the birds flutter by. It was the first truly relaxing moment of the trip, even if just for 20 minutes. The restaurant was also impressive, offering a good variety of dishes. The minced beef topping (for noodles) was delicious, and the views were superb, especially from the tables near the noodle bar – truly spectacular. Adjacent to the restaurant is a charming reading room, tastefully decorated and perfect for photos. After dinner, I took a stroll around the hotel grounds. I was particularly fond of the outdoor 'wind-listening' area and the outdoor private hot spring adorned with small flowers. While they certainly looked beautiful, I can't speak to the actual experience as I didn't get to try them. What brought me the most joy was the path of small flowers planted all along the gentle slope leading out from my room. The mountaintop wind was strong, causing the little flowers to sway, and in turn, they completely captivated me. Minor points: The bathroom felt a bit cramped, and in one of our rooms, the sink had an unpleasant odor.

I decided to seize the opportunity during my girlfriend's conference break to come here for a trip and propose. It took quite a bit of searching, and I had to wait 20 days to secure the exact date I wanted. After explaining my specific requirements to the hotel's reservation department, they promptly offered a solution. The proposal package turned out to be excellent value for money. The drive up the mountain can be a bit challenging, but it's perfectly fine if you take it slow. There are charging stations available at the top. For guests without a car, the hotel offers a pickup service. The room was spotlessly clean, and I didn't find any hidden cameras (a common concern these days!). Waking up to the breathtaking views was incredible. Breakfast was included in our package, and the beef and bamboo shoot noodles were absolutely phenomenal. Definitely worth another visit!

I'm giving this hotel a full five-star rating, primarily because operating a business in such a unique location is incredibly challenging – it's truly a double-edged sword, being both its greatest asset and its biggest hurdle. That said, there's definitely significant room for improvement. As someone who has traveled extensively both domestically and internationally, I was still quite impressed upon arriving at the hotel. I particularly loved its mountaintop location, even though, as a first-time driver on such winding mountain roads, I was a little nervous looking down at the cliffs below! Even before we reached the hotel entrance, staff members were waiting with Hada scarves, which was a very thoughtful touch. After check-in, they set up a group chat, and service seemed quite prompt initially. However, I got the feeling that some services were a bit superficial or lacked genuine engagement. For example, when I mentioned my entire family was suffering from insomnia, no one seemed to care or inquire about the reason. Secondly, when I had a cold, fever, and runny nose and asked for cold medicine, I was told they weren't licensed to sell medication. This was utterly baffling; most hotels typically provide basic first-aid supplies. It's especially unbelievable for a hotel in a high-altitude, mountaintop location not to have such essential provisions! The most amusing part was when I took my child mushroom picking and, upon a casual inquiry at the front desk, a staff member quickly produced a box of '999 Ganmaoling' cold medicine. So... this just left me wondering about their actual policy. There are still many other areas for improvement, such as the cleanliness of the elevators and the glass in the restaurant lobby. I won't go into all the other unsatisfactory points. Despite these issues, I still genuinely like this hotel. For instance, its decorative style and attention to detail, the in-room coffee machine, the Bluetooth speaker allowing me to play my own music, and its quite good breakfast and dinner offerings were all highlights! I truly hope the management continues to run this hotel successfully and makes further improvements. This is the first time I've ever written such a lengthy review for a hotel!

This hotel is genuinely upscale, and after reading so many reviews, I completely understand why it's so well-regarded. It's truly ideal for a getaway; the environment is pristine and the service is outstanding. I'd personally recommend the room type I stayed in; there's really no need to go for a standalone villa. While many of the 'Instagram-style' photos online can be a bit deceiving, this hotel absolutely lives up to its price. The only minor inconvenience is the 8-kilometer drive up a winding mountain road to reach it, but once you arrive, you'll find it's entirely worth the journey.

I always suspected this hotel was a mirage, suspended impossibly on a cliff face, seemingly floating in thin air. From a distance, it resembled a white bird with folded wings, perched precariously on the rugged rock, as if poised to unfurl them and soar into the boundless blue at any moment. By the time I checked in, dusk was already settling. The room's floor-to-ceiling windows were astonishingly vast, appearing to swallow the entire sky whole. Initially, I hesitated to approach them, fearing I might step off into the void below. At the first light of dawn, a rolling sea of clouds churned beneath us, blurring the distinction between cloud and sky. The sun wrestled its way up from the horizon, first a crimson sliver, then gilding everything it touched. It was then that I truly grasped the marvel of its 'suspension'—detached from the mundane world, yet not lost to the void, positioned precisely on that delicate boundary between earthly existence and spiritual transcendence. Perhaps it's in such awe-inspiring, almost perilous, settings that one truly glimpses the hidden corners of one's own heart.
