My impression of this place: breathtaking mountain and river scenery, perfectly blended with a clever mix of old and new architecture. Everything is beautifully presented, thanks to the vision of architect Dong Gong. The hotel facilities and room functionalities are well-designed, and the service is warm and attentive. You can truly relax here. Both the Chinese and Western restaurants on-site offer excellent cuisine. The outdoor pool (with its stunning views) is a highlight of the outdoor areas. You can easily arrange a bamboo raft tour of the Li River by simply walking down a few steps. The impressive 'Impression Sanjie Liu' show is just a 10-minute drive away. The buildings are scattered among the mountains, intertwined with reflective water features, showcasing rich and thoughtful details that are exquisite day and night, making it well worth a thorough appreciation.

A truly magical place. A hotel in a former sugar factory that has preserved its old architecture! Around it are incredible mountains, which the hotel illuminates in the evening. Cozy rooms, thought out down to the smallest detail. A wonderful breakfast. A beautiful pool where you can take photos like in a movie. The hotel is worthy of all its awards.

Yangshuo Sugarhouse has always been a hotel I've wanted to visit, and a serendipitous opportunity finally brought me here, marking my first trip to Yangshuo. True to its pictures, it's exactly as you've seen it. Admittedly, it's no longer a new hotel, and I had some reservations beforehand, as similar-priced hotels in the same category might offer larger, more luxurious options. However, for design enthusiasts, Sugarhouse is special; it's a destination in itself. My first impression was that the hotel is reasonably well-maintained, and the service is always pleasant and attentive. I always assumed these were standard expectations in such hotels, not worth mentioning. Yet, it wasn't until I truly experienced the various facets of Yangshuo that I realized Sugarhouse is an oasis in this bustling, chaotic, and often less-than-pleasant destination. Yangshuo is beautiful, but its natural charm isn't always enough to offset some disappointing tourist experiences. You might exert a lot of effort trying to soak in the legendary landscapes, only to be left unsatisfied, perhaps due to early mornings or overwhelming crowds. But at Sugarhouse, you can intimately connect with Yangshuo's mountains and rivers, as they are right outside your room, beyond the iconic pool view. During the day, you can fully immerse yourself in nature undisturbed, and as dusk falls, the lights of Impression Liu Sanjie illuminate them, making you a part of the landscape. Finding such tranquility in this destination is incredibly precious, a realization I only had after switching to other hotels. The service here carries a hint of genuine, endearing awkwardness, and you can sense that achieving this level of service isn't easy. The bartender at 1969 Bar recommended a special concoction when I was indecisive, allowing me to savor the last season's season of loquat gin, which was unforgettable. Lucy at the front desk was incredibly helpful in resolving my issues, and when I pointed out some minor flaws in the room, they were already being addressed – truly tiny details that not everyone would notice, demonstrating their genuine care for guests. I met a gentleman at breakfast who enthusiastically and meticulously introduced me to oil tea and proactively helped me carry it to my upstairs seat when my hands were full. On my departure day, I even saw him standing at the lobby entrance at 36 degrees Celsius, assisting guests. Later, I learned he was the hotel's general manager. The people here are sincere and responsible, and what initially felt like minor imperfections transformed into a stark difference after comparison. I can give the experience here full marks. Some friends might find it too boring, with too many cars on the highway outside the rooms. But if you've experienced the endless swarm of electric scooters, the ubiquitous paid parking lots, and the so-called villas that cost 3,000 yuan with no view whatsoever, you'll realize that not only is the pricing here quite fair, but it's also almost the only viable accommodation option in Yangshuo. Of course, this is just for reference if you don't plan on venturing out, but Sugarhouse still offers many interesting services that make it a highly recommendable choice.

For my birthday trip this year, I chose Yangshuo Sugar House, and the experience was fantastic. The hotel, converted from an old sugar factory, perfectly blends a sense of history with modern design. When they found out it was my birthday trip, they decorated my room, which added a wonderful festive touch. The hotel also offers many activities like guided tours, sugar painting, and feeding ducks and rabbits. Every staff member was incredibly warm and professional. After checking out, I realized I'd left my hat behind. I contacted the staff, and they immediately located it and arranged for a courier. It's definitely a place worth experiencing!

The hotel boasts a prime riverside view and a distinctive style, with half of its guests being international. While the rooms are a bit dated, the in-room noise levels are tolerable. Everything else is great. Getting a taxi is also very convenient, with quick pick-ups.

This hotel is simply amazing. The architecture, the service and details with us, the breakfast, the location, everything was perfect. The only hotel in all China where the staff spoke a bit of English. We would really recommend it to anyone.

Five-star review | Family stay experience at Sugar House Yangshuo ✨ Our family of three chose Sugar House for our trip, and the overall experience was perfect, highly recommended for families with kids! The hotel, a renovated old sugar mill, blends industrial architecture with the stunning Guilin landscape, creating an incredible atmosphere where every photo looks like a masterpiece. The room was spacious and clean, with a great view from the balcony. The butler service was attentive and thoughtful, responding quickly to any issues. We even received complimentary welcome fruit upon check-in – the attention to detail was excellent. I have to rave about the two activities our child loved the most! The infinity pool had clean water and was backed by the karst mountains, making splashing around incredibly fun. Adults could also relax and enjoy the scenery. Then there was the delightful 'hanging basket snack' activity: when the rattle drum sounded, we'd lower the bamboo basket from our balcony and receive a basket full of snacks. Our child absolutely loved it and was always excited for this part, which felt fresh and new every time. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety, and the Guilin rice noodles were authentic and delicious. The hotel's public areas were beautiful, and there were several family-friendly activities, so we didn't need to go far to have a fulfilling time. It truly felt like a vacation, and I highly recommend it for families. We'll definitely be back!

One of the most beautiful and memorable hotels I have ever stayed at. Yangshuo Sugar House is much more than just a hotel - it feels like a complete experience. The architecture is absolutely stunning: the way the former sugar factory has been preserved and transformed is incredibly thoughtful, atmospheric and full of character. Every corner feels beautifully designed, but never artificial. The location is breathtaking. Waking up surrounded by the karst mountains, the river and all this greenery honestly felt unreal. I especially loved the pool area, the quiet spaces around the property, the library and the overall sense of calm. What made the stay even more special were all the little experiences: the painting class, making syrup and jam, exploring the history of the old sugar factory, the beautiful boutique and the small details throughout the hotel. It really feels like a place where you can slow down, create, observe and enjoy being present. The staff were always kind, attentive and genuinely helpful, and I especially appreciated how much care they put into every interaction. Even the farewell gift — a beautiful aromatic oil — was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. I came here expecting a beautiful hotel, but I left with a real emotional attachment to the place. It is stylish, peaceful, creative and completely unique. One of the highlights of my trip to China, and definitely a place I would love to return to.
