Banyan Tree Anhui – while other platforms are constantly offering discounts and flash sales, these couldn't be used during the Chinese New Year period. Initially, I booked a 4-day, 3-night stay, but later changed it to 3 days, 2 nights for 10,000 RMB. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa, but couldn't park our car right outside the villa, which was very inconvenient. If we wanted to park closer, we'd have to pay extra for a different villa type, but I didn't like the decor of those – they were all in dark colors. We had to call for a shuttle whenever we wanted to go anywhere, which was quite inconvenient, especially with bad weather. The complimentary fruit, snacks, and longan and lotus seed soup provided upon check-in were a bit sparse. The hotel advertised a heated pool, and the water temperature itself was probably fine, but the pool area was open to the outside, not an enclosed space, so it was still quite cold. Our child wasn't able to swim. The Chinese New Year activities at the hotel were a bit underwhelming – the Huangmei Opera was mediocre, and the fish lantern parade and iron flower show were very brief. The hotel itself was generally clean. The scenery would likely be much better in spring or summer; in winter, it felt a bit desolate. The room facilities were decent, and despite their age, they were well-maintained. A small complaint: breakfast involved queuing, as there weren't enough tables in the restaurant, so they had to call out numbers. Thankfully, the staff were very polite. If you arrived late, you just had to wait hungry. Breakfast was average. There's definitely no value for money during Chinese New Year, but it might be a good stay during the off-season. It's a 15-minute drive to Hongcun and very close to Lucun. Nothing exceeded expectations; I'd just say it was okay.
