Shangri-La Yiwu

This is arguably the worst five-star hotel I've ever stayed in. There was an appalling lack of service, and the place was both dirty and smelly. 1. The moment I arrived, they immediately pressured me to register as a member, add them on WeChat, and practically demanded a positive review. 2. The fruit platter consisted of dates and bananas... a truly bizarre combination. They seriously need to step up their staff training and service quality. 3. In the morning, the cleaning staff just barged into my room, flicked on all the lights, woke me up, and then left without an apology or even bothering to turn off the lights. 4. The cleaning staff casually threw away my belongings. My acne patches were clearly visible on top of my toiletries in the bathroom, yet they were discarded. 5. My room key card, which was left in the power slot, mysteriously disappeared. 6. The bath towels were torn, frayed, and reeked. I actually thought they were bath mats until I looked around and realized they were supposed to be towels. 7. The front desk first assigned me a room reeking of cigarette smoke. Then, they gave me the wrong key card. I had to drag my luggage up and down four times – it was beyond frustrating. 8. Upon arrival, no one even offered to help with my luggage. Aside from its convenient location, there's absolutely nothing redeeming about this place. It completely falls short of Shangri-La's standards. It was an absolute disaster!

Charging five-star rates for three-star facilities and service. The only positive is its location: it's close to Yiwu International Trade City District 1, with plenty of dining options nearby. However, even Atour hotels offer superior service and amenities. The room had marble flooring that felt sticky underfoot, even with slippers. The towels were old and worn, and basic toiletries like combs and razors were absent. The hotel is showing its age, but its service delivery and management (the 'soft' aspects) could still be much better. When even the towels are subpar, it's no wonder the overall service falls short.
