InterContinental Yokohama Grand

The city view with the Ferris wheel and landmark buildings was beautiful. Although we couldn't see the fireworks from our room, we went down to the Japanese restaurant on the 4th floor for dinner and enjoyed a full firework show, which was absolutely worth it! The room was much larger than hotels of the same price in Tokyo, haha, and the service was excellent. The Chinese staff member responsible for house-keeping on our floor was very welcoming and enthusiastic. Thank you~

It's an older InterContinental hotel, so nothing particularly amazing about it. The landmark views are truly beautiful, stunning from both sides. It's not too far from the subway station, just a few minutes to ten minutes' walk. There's a large shopping mall and convenience stores nearby with plenty of food options. Yokohama is definitely worth spending a few days in.

Our Kanto trip led us to the InterContinental Yokohama Grand, a hotel whose distinctive sail-shaped architecture is itself a landmark in Yokohama Minato Mirai. This hotel beautifully combines ocean views, an excellent location, and a resort-like atmosphere, making it a quintessential choice for a Yokohama getaway. The hotel boasts a superb location right in the heart of Minato Mirai. It's just a few minutes' walk to Minato Mirai Subway Station, and attractions like the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris Wheel, Red Brick Warehouse, and Queen's Square shopping mall are all within easy walking distance. The seaside promenade is right outside the door, making sightseeing, dining, and shopping incredibly convenient. Plus, there are direct airport shuttle buses to and from Haneda and Narita, which is a huge relief when traveling with heavy luggage. We stayed in a high-floor bay view room, which by Japanese hotel standards was quite spacious; we could fully open two 28-inch suitcases. The large floor-to-ceiling windows offered direct views of Yokohama Bay. By day, we could gaze at the Bay Bridge and passing ships, and by night, the illuminated Ferris wheel created an incredibly vibrant and romantic atmosphere. The bedding was soft and comfortable, the bathroom was well-maintained, and the amenities were of high quality, leading to a very comfortable overall stay. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive, including an indoor heated pool, gym, and sauna – perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. There are several restaurants with different styles to choose from, and the buffet breakfast offered a rich variety, catering to both Japanese and Western tastes. The concierge and front desk staff were professional and polite, and responses to luggage storage and inquiries were prompt. The service truly upheld the InterContinental brand's consistent high standards. Objectively, the hotel has been open for some time, and its overall decor leans towards a mature and classic style rather than trendy minimalist design. During peak check-in times, the lobby can get quite crowded. I recommend requesting a high-floor bay view room when checking in, as the scenic experience is significantly enhanced. Overall, whether you're on a romantic getaway, a family trip, or specifically visiting Yokohama to experience the Minato Mirai nightscape, this hotel is an excellent choice. Its exceptional ocean views coupled with an irreplaceable location make it a top accommodation option in Yokohama.

The first thing that caught my eye when I entered the room was the massive floor-to-ceiling window! The 'City View Room' lives up to its name – you get a panoramic view of Yokohama's iconic harbor, the Ferris wheel, the Red Brick Warehouse area, and the distant skyline. During the day, sunlight floods the entire room, making it bright and airy. At night, with the city lights twinkling outside, Yokohama's night view is romantic and dreamlike. You can enjoy it all from bed; I didn't even want to close the curtains! Watching the sunset slowly sink into the harbor, especially around dusk, was truly a healing experience. The only downside was a slight musty smell in the room, which improved after running the air purifier for a while.

Last year, I stayed at the InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8, and this year, the InterContinental Grand Yokohama. Both are InterContinental properties. The former opened in 2019, and the latter in 1991, but the high-quality service was consistent across both. Personally, I preferred the latter. The bedding was more to my liking, the temperature and humidity were perfectly adjusted, and all the small details were impeccably handled. My 3-night stay was truly excellent.

This hotel is right by Yokohama Port, and our city view room offered a great view of the Ferris wheel. The lobby even has live band performances sometimes, and the breakfast spread is fantastic, with both Japanese and Western options.

Breakfast offered a great variety, and the service was exactly what you'd expect from the InterContinental brand. The whole hotel environment felt grand and comfortable. My stay at the InterContinental Yokohama was fantastic! The service and facilities were impeccable, truly living up to the brand's reputation. What really impressed me were the thoughtful details – the pajamas in the room were incredibly soft and comfortable, and the toiletries were a complete set, so I didn't have to worry about forgetting anything. It made traveling light so convenient. It was a very satisfying stay, and this will definitely be my first choice next time I'm in Yokohama!
