Xigu Huiyuan Guesthouse

Everything was excellent. The owner's meticulously designed and renovated old house provided a comfortable stay. Free parking is available at the village committee parking lot outside the South Wengcheng (outer city wall) of Nuanquan Ancient Town; the guesthouse is just a short walk from the Wengcheng. In winter, the room was very warm with air conditioning, underfloor heating, and electric heaters. Breakfast was served individually, including several local specialties of Weixian County. The owner, using the food as a starting point, introduced guests to the history and culture of Weixian, speaking in great depth and detail. The hostess is from Beijing; she fell in love with Weixian a few years ago and decided to stay and open the guesthouse to spread its culture. The exquisite paper-cutting sold in the guesthouse's cultural and creative shop was superb, featuring works by renowned artists; I loved every piece. The hostess explained the highlights and cultural significance of each piece, which was very eye-opening, and I lingered in the shop for a long time. Weixian is truly a treasure trove of ancient towns, with numerous historical sites; two days are not enough to see everything. I'll have to leave that for next time.

The facilities are complete, the environment is clean and elegant, and the service is excellent. Overall, the location is superb, and the performances are good. The town is worth a visit; the intangible cultural heritage is very well done.

This is a very culturally rich guesthouse. The courtyard is quiet and comfortable with underfloor heating. My family loved it. The owner is very passionate and has collected a lot of Weixian paper-cuttings. I bought one and loved it. I would definitely choose Xigu again next time!

The owner has great taste, the rooms are stylish, and the accommodations were arranged very well. It's a rare find in Zhangjiakou Ancient Town with an artistic feel, and it's definitely worth a visit in the summer.

This guesthouse is brimming with undeniable cultural heritage and humanistic spirit. Every brick and tile reveals thoughtful design, from the bedside lamps, reading materials on the desk, calligraphy and paintings on the walls, and bathroom amenities, to the layout of the courtyard and the furnishings of the rooms. Every detail is carefully considered, making it a truly warm and welcoming cultural haven. The owner's casual conversations about local anecdotes and cultural stories offer a gentle encounter with time and humanity.

Exceeding expectations, the guesthouse owner was a young woman from Beijing. She said a chance encounter forged a special connection with Yu County, leading her to open this guesthouse. The owner was very talkative and would chat about Yu County's culture and more. There was a nice small exhibition next to the guesthouse's tea room, and the guesthouse did a great job protecting guests' privacy. A card was required to enter the accommodation area to ensure guests were not disturbed by tourists visiting their home.

The room and service were both very thoughtful; it's one of the best guesthouses I've stayed in in recent years. The owner was incredibly welcoming and has a strong commitment to protecting and preserving the intangible cultural heritage of Yu County. Aunties helped us with our luggage when we checked in and out. I even learned a lot about paper cutting from chatting with her. The room was fully equipped, and the inclusion of a baby changing mat was a wonderful touch 😊

I initially thought the price was expensive for a small town, but after staying there, I realized that it was worth it. There weren't many rooms, and it wasn't a farmhouse, but it was still very well-maintained. I even bought some paper cuttings at the cultural and creative store.
