Shan Yu Xi Homestay

Pros: Newly renovated and newly opened, new; close to the cable car station. Cons: Also new, the room still smelled, especially when opening the door. You had to open the door and windows for ventilation, and even slept with the windows open at night. The "new" management philosophy meant that extended stays were not accompanied by linens or cleaning. I contacted the owner's family (presumably my mother-in-law) the day before and asked them to clean the room the next day so I could rest quickly after my hike. However, when I came down in the evening, the room was still the same. I called the owner, who came to clean the trash can and replenished two bottles of water and disposable items.

The room was OK. It was less than a minute from the entrance, so close. I got up and lined up, came back for breakfast, and went straight in, saving me the time it took to queue. It was so convenient. They extended my time to 2 p.m., and we went down the mountain, had dinner at his house, and rested for an hour. It was great.
