Hotel Sierra Resort Yuzawa

No shortcomings!

The food is delicious, and the new stylish rooms and large public baths are the best! I don't know if the customer service is a bit 🙄

I have used Sierra Resort in Hakuba many times, but I have always been interested in this Sierra Resort, and I finally had the opportunity to use it. Since it's a ski resort, I thought it would be a big hotel, but it turned out to be a medium-sized hotel in a white building located on quite a hill (Iwahara Slope). From the terrace in front of the lobby lounge, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Tanigawa mountain range and the great outdoors. This is a hotel with direct access to the ski slopes. I checked in at the main building and my room was in the annex next door. There is a bath building in the ba*****t of the annex, and only in the annex is it okay to wear a yukata. The room is a spacious, modern Western-style room, with part of the ceiling slanted. It's a bit like an attic. I was so clumsy that I hit my head on the ceiling a few times. Wi-Fi can be connected in the room, but it was disappointing that there was no safe in the room. The baths include a spacious indoor bath and an open-air bath with a spectacular view of the city of Yuzawa and the mountains. There was a tree with bright red autumn leaves next to the open-air bath, and it was very beautiful. When I went the next morning, the autumn leaves on the mountain, which I couldn't see well the day before due to the setting sun, were still very beautiful. The bath has cosmetic remover oil and foaming facial soap, and the wash area has cosmetic emulsion and is fully equipped with toiletries. Now, for dinner, it was a French course at a restaurant. The night view was sparkling. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that if you had to choose between meat or fish for the main dish, it would cost an additional 3,300 yen if you wanted to eat both. I thought both courses were included, so I was a little disappointed. However, when I chose meat as my main dish, the pork fillet poele was quite filling. The soup was sweet potato potage, but it was too sweet and not good. I thought it would be a good idea to ask the staff to try it. I think the sweetness doesn't go well with wine. It was sweet like sugar. The main dish, pork, had a fragrant mushroom sauce and was very satisfying. Of the two types of bread, the round white one was more delicious. The tea at the end was purveyor to the Swedish royal family, but it was disappointingly lukewarm.The dessert itself was delicious, but it was sweet and there was a lot of it, so I would have preferred coffee instead. The edible hozuki dessert was unique and had a refreshing sour taste. How was dinner with you later? When I asked about it, he said that there wasn't much dinner, and that it wouldn't be enough for someone who does skiing. A glass of wine costs 900 yen, and a full bottle starts at 3,800 yen, so I ordered that (a French Chardonnay wine). Breakfast was a buffet and it was after a group, so there were almost no menu items (grilled fish, salad, etc.). The pickled zuiki and Saikyo-yaki were delicious. I thought there was no natto even though it was a buffet, but next to the rice bowl there was a raw egg, chopped natto, and tororo. I now understand why the rice bowl is quite large. From the restaurant, you could see the morning view of the mountains with autumn leaves, which was nice. I'm so happy that I was finally able to stay at this wonderful resort-style hotel.

The building itself looks like a cute pension, but it is a first-class hotel. I've stayed here before, but some of it has been renovated and it felt a bit cheap. In the lobby space, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the Tanigawadake mountain range from the large windows. In front of the front desk, there are sofas that are a little uncomfortable to sit on, although they look nice. It's a relaxing space where you can relax and enjoy coffee and your smartphone. You can see a panoramic view of Mt. Tanigawa from your room and open-air bath, and you can spend a luxurious time relaxing. In the room we stayed in, there were vehicles doing maintenance all night on the ski slope. Dinner is a course meal. It felt like Western food, but it may have been arranged a little too much. Unfortunately, the only heating in the room was floor heating, which could not be adjusted. Other than that, I feel it was very good.

This hotel has a wonderful view from the hill. The interior, including the lobby, has a calm atmosphere. I brought a book that I had been meaning to read someday but hadn't read yet, and I read it on a chair in the front garden, and it was very pleasant to read. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, although the number of items was small. Breakfast in particular was a buffet, and the miso soup and grilled fish (salmon) seemed to be homemade (not ready-made or ready-made) and were of very high quality. The bath was a circulation type, but it was clean and comfortable to use. Ice lollies are provided after taking a bath. In the morning, I was impressed to see the staff washing the cars of customers parked in the parking lot (although it was only a simple matter of pouring water on them). There are ski trails on both sides of the hotel, so I would like to come back during the ski season.

I went there with high expectations as it had been highly rated in reviews and was reasonably priced, but there was no heating in the hotel except for the rooms, so I had to wait for about 30 minutes until check-in without the drink service I had expected. I was able to check in early, but the year-end and New Year holidays are a busy season and the prices are quite high, so I think it would be a good idea to consider the check-in time.Here are the bullet points: Walking in the lobby in ski shoes I've been to many hotels where there is a lot of water from walking around, but I was surprised that you can walk in ski shoes or bring your snowboard or skis.I didn't see many elderly people, but there were a lot of small children. I was wondering if I would slip, and since it was crowded with my skis on the floor, I was worried about my footing. There is a breakfast buffet, so I was at the window counter in a narrow area, but I bumped into someone who was stepping down, so I felt it would be better to keep the food on one side only. The bathroom was very far away, so I would have asked for guest information in advance, but since there was an elderly person with a physical disability, I had to accompany him to the farthest bathroom every time, and it was far cold. There are steps in the rooms, and there are about three flights of stairs in the hallway, so I felt that there was no consideration given to barrier-free accommodation. It's beautiful and the food is delicious, but the prices are reasonable, so I don't think I'll be a repeat customer.
