Donna Carmela Resort and Lodges

We stayed at Donna Carmela Resort in March 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel is absolutely stunning, surrounded by lush greenery, with beautifully designed rooms. Our room’s terrace was a highlight, offering breathtaking views of the plantations and the sea. The entire property is elegantly designed, exuding sophistication. The service was exceptional—every staff member was warm, attentive, and welcoming. A special mention to Ms. Eliana, who was outstanding! The resort also features a stylish bar, a great restaurant, and an incredible breakfast spread. The food was fantastic, and the drinks were just as impressive. Overall, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend this place!

Nice resort surrounded by green and quite gardens and terraces overlooking the sea. good food & beverage option with gourmet menu for dinner and simple one for lunch. Also possible to have sandwiches and salads by the pool bar. Would suggest to visit.

From the rustic chaos that is Sicily, Donna Carmela is like an oasis of calm and tranquility you step into and all your needs are taken care of in a personal and professional way, nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are only too happy to help you in anyway they can with a smile of their faces. We spent a week with them and cannot thank them all enough for the kindness they showed us both. We spent 2 nights in the romantic villa that is 800m from the hotel, it was remote but beautifully appointed and a great place to get away from everything, the remainder of our time based in the exclusive suite, a beautifully appointed room and terrace. I can thoroughly recommend the wine tasting, even if you aren’t an expert, Rosario’s passion for Sicilian wine was outstanding and his enthusiasm infectious, so much so we booked again. Our only slight disappointment was the food, breakfast was excellent, lunch the offering was a bit basic and the dinner menu was a little over ambitious in our view and you would only want to eat there once or twice. Thanks again and if we come back to Sicily we will definitely stay again.

We stayed in this lovely hotel for a week purely for relaxation & we loved it. The staff make it particularly special. They are attentive without being intrusive, cheerful & helpful, just perfect. Gerardo & all the waitresses in particular. We had a suite with a large balcony in the main building, which was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was quite expensive, but worth it, though after a week we would have liked a change. We did eat out twice nearby. We were so happy in the hotel we didn’t mind that it really is quite isolated. Day trips to Taormina & Etna were enough for us. In mid September the temperature was in the mid to high 20’s. Perfect. Not sure how we would have coped with the much higher summer heat. It’s a lovely hotel very well managed. We would return.

This classy hotel is located in well kept tropical gardens and lawns, with a stunning view of mount Etna. It’s main asset is its friendly, competent and discretely helpful staff, from the welcome desk, to housekeeping and the restaurant staff. The outdoor breakfast and dinner were delicious. We did find the breakfast a bit on the sweet side, but on day two, found some heartier cold-cuts and rye bread as well. The pool area is beautiful and relaxing. One minor detail is the railway nearby with sporadic passage, but not disturbing, definitely not inside the room. The bed- and adjacent bathroom were very spacious, nicely decorated and we slept very comfortably. The only caveat is that its opulent luxury attracts a certain “clientele” with a sense of entitlement. I was cut off in my little Audi rental and TOLD TO WAIT by a limo driver who stopped to pick up her clients IN THE MIDDLE of the common driveway. Not the hotel’s fault of course…

We went as part of a destination wedding, so a lot of the experience was fine. BUT, you should be aware of Room 26. First off, we paid more for this room because it had a jacuzzi only to be told to heat the jacuzzi was an add’l $35 Euros per night. Also, there is no door from the toilet to the bedroom. No privacy at all.
