The hotel is relatively far from the train station. The hotel had changed the confirmation number before arrival, so we waited about half an hour before entering after we had call them by phone because it was slef check in. We found pure bath soap and there was no one in the hotel to ask.

Location of the hotel is good and room 34 a good size with a balcony. The bed was the worst I’ve ever tried to sleep on. The leg wasn’t on properly so the bed creaked every time you moved and the mattress lumpy. The breakfast was very basic. Check out is at 10am which is far too early especially if your transfer is not till late afternoon. We had a great holiday but wouldn’t return to the hotel.

Perfect small friendly ski/walking hotel located in Zell am See a short walk from the town centre and lifts. The rooms are spacious, recently modernised to a good standard and there’s plenty of hot water for showers. The restaurant is continental breakfast only, but it’s excellent and served with a warm welcome ever morning. There is a modern sauna, it’s spacious and for textile free - perfect after a day on the mountain. Skiing in the area is excellent, great restaurants and busses connecting two other resorts close by. If skiing leave your skis at the hire shop by the City Express lift for €2 per day.

The hotel is clean and the staff very pleasant. The views on the lakeside are stunning. Breakfast is a good continental with scrambled eggs every morning. The location to the lifts and the town centre is about a 10 minute walk but you can leave your skis in the ski hire shop at the bottom of the city express lift included in the ski hire price. If you want to leave your boots it has to be done in a ski locker at 2 euros a day. That said there is a perfectly decent boot and ski room at the hotel. We were in room 2 on the ground floor which was good as we did not have to take our heavy bags up potentially 4 floors as there is no lift. The bathroom is very dated and there was no door on the toilet. The shower above the path was cold or luke warm at best. Sadly not warm enough for a bath. In addition when you had a shower the water ran along the rim of the bath and onto the floor unless you put a towel at the end of the shower screen. The biggest issue for us however was the trains. They run mainly through the night and are right outside the windows. The heating is very warm so we wanted the windows open whilst we slept but this meant being awoken by every train. Even with the windows shut the trains are very noisy as many are long freight trains with screeching brakes. We are going to try to get some ear plugs from the chemist this morning but I would not advise this hotel if you are not a very deep sleeper. As an aside soft drinks in Zell am See are more expensive than beer. 6 euros a pint for coke and 3.5 euros for a beer!

A small B&B close to the Lake. Trains run frequently along the track between the Hotel and the lake. There are about 38 rooms over 4 floors. The Hotel has a small ski room in the basement with boot warming racks and also in the basement is a, free to use, Sauna with shower and a relaxation area with complimentary towels, open 4:30-8:30pm each evening. There is no lift so not ideal for those less mobile. Rooms vary in size and occupancy. Room 32 on the top floor is very small Twin, with slimline beds and limited storage. OK for one person, but would be extremely small for 2. There is a TV in the room and there is a side view of the lake from the windows (no balcony). I slept with the windows open and the the noise from the trains didn’t wake me. The bathroom was spotlessly clean (March 2023) and the shower was quite powerful with shower gel provided. Tissues, loo roll, Liquid soap and towels are also provided (1 bath & 1 Hand/Face. For guests staying Saturday - Saturday, towels are changed once per week on Wednesdays. There is a charge of you require a more frequent change. Rooms are cleaned & beds made, most days. Breakfast, served 07:30-09:30, is a typical selection of meats and cheese slices, soft cheese triangles, eggs (alternating hard boiled & scrambled), tomatoes & cucumber. There is a variety of breads available (with toaster) cereals, milk, juice, yoghurt, Oranges & Apples, Jam and chocolate spread. You can make your own Waffles and there area variety Tea’s and a coffee machine (free, ignore the charge sign at breakfast). Room vacation on day of departure is 10:00am.

Very sweet hotel. Great location overlooking lake zell and 5 minutes walk to town. Only a 2 minute walk to the lido. There are regular trains going past the back of the hotel which are quite noisy but that’s the way it is for quite a lot of hotels in Zell am See. The location is worth it. We upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the alps. Our side view was of the lake. The room was always cleaned well and was a decent size. Breakfast nice. Hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Was nice to see her always in traditional dress. Thought the hotel was brilliant value for quite an expensive town. Could well recommend this hotel.

As you might be able to tell from the photos, this is a traditional Austrian style hotel that’s been thoroughly modernised inside. The bedrooms have something of the feel of student accommodation - simple, modern, functional but not luxurious. However, my room was clean, the bed comfortable and the shower worked well. The buffet breakfast was fairly basic, but perfectly adequate, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They also have a new sauna, which is a decent size and a good way to meet some of your fellow guests. It’s only a ten minute walk up to the City Express lift and the centre of town where the bars and restaurants are. The reception desk is only staffed for a couple of hours per day and when guests are arriving or leaving, but this wasn’t a problem for me. As other reviewers have mentioned, there’s a railway line between the hotel and the lake, and rooms on that side of the building will hear the trains go by - best to go for a room on the other side of the building if you’re a light sleeper. Overall, good value for money.
