This is my first negative review, and as someone who travels frequently for business, this is by far the worst apart-hotel I've ever stayed in!
Let me elaborate on my reasons below, and I stand by them:
1️⃣ I had many cheaper hotel options, but I chose this one thinking it would be good. In reality, it's just an apart-hotel occupying two floors (17th and 18th), with no lower floor options. The front desk is also quite inconspicuous. Frankly, 270 CNY a night is overpriced. The description mentioned views of Tianmen Mountain, and you could pay an extra 10 CNY for a 'high-floor view.' However, all rooms are on high floors, which feels misleading. There's no view to speak of; tall buildings block the sight from the bed, and you can only vaguely glimpse a tiny sliver of the mountain.
2️⃣ The shower head couldn't be adjusted higher – it was tied in place with a rope! At 1.75m (5'9"), I had to duck my head to wash. The slippers were so uncomfortable they made my toes ache after just a moment. Didn't whoever sourced these slippers even try them on? It was simply excruciating! (See photos for proof)
3️⃣ No disposable cups were provided. Instead, there were reusable plastic gargle cups that cannot be properly sanitized. This hotel is really cutting corners! (See photos for proof!)
4️⃣ The cleanliness was subpar. The table was covered in dust, and the chairs were absolutely filthy. (See photos for proof!)
5️⃣ I asked a staff member for an extra pillow, and they claimed they didn't have a single one. This is beyond comprehension, and their attitude wasn't great either.
I will never return to this 'Meiji' hotel again.
