Hotel Retro B.A. Zientarski

I stayed here for a few nights during August this year and wasn't disappointed. For an indpendent hotel it has everything some of the bigger hotel chains have to offer. For starters my room was prestine clean and was very spacious for a single room equipped with a fairly large bathroom and power shower. Please be aware that this hotel is situated in close proximity to the train station so there will be some noise, however with the air conditioning on I closed the windows. The food, what can i say, everything I had was superb, from the breakfast that was included to dinner time. The chef must be congratulated as every meal I had there, from roast beef steak to Gorganzola and pear toast was delicious. I definitely recommend anyone who is staying in Zielona Gora for business or pleasure to book this hotel. The staff, whether they were receptionists or waiters were very polite, attentive with happy faces despite the days being very hot. Well done Retro!

We used *********** to find a hotel in Zielona Gora. My partner is a parkrunner so we had some important criteria - less than 1 mile from parkun, easy access to train station and not too far from the main city area. We were dropped off by our Flixbus, a few paces away from the hotel. I advised in Polish that I had a reservation, and hearing that I was not native, the receptionist kindly asked if I preferred Polish or English (I preferred that rather than assuming English). We were directed to our room which was huge! Overlooking the train station with a hallway down to the enormous bathroom. It was perfect. We wished we'd have stayed longer to enjoy this room. We popped down to the little Zabka for some snacks (tip, Zabka stores are everywhere and they'll heat food up for you!) Back at the hotel, even though we were overlooking the main street, it wasn't distracting, we both had a brilliant night sleep. My partner didn't like the separate duvets on the bed, but, I didn't mind so much. We woke up the next morning, made our way to parkrun, and then returned to freshen up. The receptionist allowed us to leave our bags and coats in the hotel whilst we explored a little of the town centre before our train journey, the main town is around 20 minutes walk - pop down to Park Winny along the way for a picture at the Zielona Gora sign! The main town has a great shopping mall - I specifically wanted a book shop so that I could buy some Polish childrens books. We got a taxi back to the hotel, retrieved our baggage and continued on our journey.
