Nara's hydrangea season has arrived, with the optimal flower-viewing period extending from mid-June to mid-July. Hase-dera temple, known as the "Temple of Flowers," is home to over 3,000 hydrangea bushes displaying a vivid array of colors; in particular, the approach to the main hall and the area surrounding the five-storied pagoda offer excellent settings for photography. Yada-dera temple, referred to as the "Hydrangea Temple," features approximately 60 species comprising around 10,000 hydrangea bushes that blanket the entire temple grounds in a spectacular display. Oka-dera temple, located in Asuka Village, houses about 3,000 hydrangea bushes whose presence enhances the serene atmosphere of the ancient temple, with the hydrangeas lining the stone steps serving as an ideal backdrop for photographs. Maken Hills Park, which offers free admission, showcases 4,000 hydrangea bushes, making it one of Nara's most popular destinations for flower viewing. Nara's hydrangea season offers not only stunning natural scenery but also a rich cultural experience, rendering these sites excellent choices for both capturing memorable photographs and gaining deeper insights into Japan's floral traditions.

Nara during Cherry Blossom Season

I've been to Nara 3-4 times, but this is the first time I went during the cherry blossom peak. The whole experience was really amazing, it felt like I was looking at a Japanese landscape painting. It takes about an hour from Osaka to Nara. We arrived around 3 pm, walked towards Nara Park, took our time strolling, taking photos, eating ice cream, and played until about 5 pm before heading back to the train station and watched the sunset 😆 2-3 hours around Nara Park is enough to have a great time. If you have the chance to go to Osaka during the cherry blossom season, I believe Nara Park is a beautiful and convenient choice 😎👍

Global Autumn Pursuit | Nara Park during the Maple Leaf Season

Global Autumn Pursuit | Nara Park during the Maple Leaf Season

Nara Park during the Maple Leaf Season. When it comes to travel in Nara, what we hear more about is not the birthplace of ancient Japanese culture, but the deer that have lived here for generations. As a result, this place has become a must-visit destination in Kansai for animal-loving 'big friends' and 'little friends', and Nara Park is definitely a spot not to be missed! 🚌Transportation Strategy: ⭐️To get to Nara from Kyoto, there are two ways: JR and Kintetsu. ⭐️If you're just visiting Nara Park, Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha and other nearby attractions (which is generally enough), you can walk there from the Kintetsu station. ⭐️The JR station is farther from the attractions, and you can store luggage at the JR station. To get to the attractions, you need to take a bus within Nara city. ⭐️Nara Visitor Center sells bus day passes, but after studying the main attractions mentioned above, it's feasible to walk between them, so you can just buy a single ticket to get there. 👍👍👍Recommended Activities: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Nara Park is highly recommended, all the pictures are from here, with blue skies, white clouds, colorful trees, and herds of deer interacting with people, everything is too beautiful~ ⭐️⭐️Of course, attractions like Kasuga Taisha and Todaiji Temple are not far away, but after visiting Kyoto, all these shrines and temples seem less significant, feeding the deer is the real deal. ⭐️⭐️⭐️If you have time, you can go to Wakakusayama to overlook the entire Nara. 🦌🦌🦌Deer Feeding Tips: 1⃣Buy deer crackers first when you arrive, because you can't feed them with food you have on hand, you know what it's like to be surrounded and chased. 2⃣There are complaints about the deer being aggressive, biting clothes, pushing people, opening bags... This is totally their world, so safety first~ Unless you want to explore Nara in depth, I personally feel there's no need to visit every single attraction. Enjoying the beauty of nature and interacting with the deer for a slow-paced life in Nara Park is wonderful!

Enjō-ji Temple 円成寺 – A Hidden Gem of Nara

📍Enjō-ji Temple 円成寺 Located in Ninnikusen Town, Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Enjō-ji Temple is a historic temple of the Shingon Omuro sect with the mountain name Ninnikusen. The temple enshrines Amida Nyorai (Amitabha Buddha) and is a serene retreat along the Yagyu Kaido Road, east of Nara City. A National Treasure – The Great Dainichi Nyorai Statue One of the temple’s most remarkable highlights is its National Treasure, the Great Dainichi Nyorai (Vairocana Buddha) Statue, crafted by the renowned Buddhist sculptor Unkei. This masterpiece, created during Unkei’s early career, marks the transition from the Fujiwara style to the emerging Kamakura style. It is one of the earliest sculptures in Japan bearing Unkei’s autographed inscription, making it an invaluable piece in the history of Japanese sculpture. Historical Architecture & Scenic Beauty The temple grounds feature stunning historical structures, including the Rōmon Gate, Tahōtō Pagoda, and Main Hall. Enjō-ji is especially famous in autumn, when vibrant maple leaves transform the temple into a breathtaking destination for visitors. Nestled deep in the eastern mountains of Kasugayama, the temple has long served as a training site for Buddhist monks. The surrounding area is dotted with numerous stone Buddha statues, adding to the mystical charm of the landscape.
