Introduction Birch Forest Viewing in Mohe

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
In the northern land of Mohe, there are not only fascinating ice and snow wonders, but also rich forest culture. Especially in the Arctic Village, exploring the birch forest and experiencing the magnificent and quiet "forest and snowfield" in person, it is as if you have fallen into another fairy tale world in an instant. After the snow, the birch forest, a unique tree species in the Northeast, is graceful and its branches reach the sky. It is like a ginkgo tree, changing its appearance with the seasons. Walking into the forest will be refreshing. Occasionally, a few birds singing through the forest will add a bit of vitality. Here you can slow down your pace and take a deep breath to fully feel the freshness and fragrance given by nature.

Snow Country Train Ticket Tips | Harbin-Mohe

Snow Country Train Ticket Tips | Harbin-Mohe

Experience the coldest weather in the coldest season. If you don't go to the beach in winter, go to Mohe, the northernmost part of China. You can fly from Harbin to Mohe, but the best way to experience the journey is to take the Snow Country Train. 🚉 Snow Country Train: K7039 Harbin-Mohe. Time: 17:18-10:05 (T+1), 16 hours and 47 minutes in total. Winter in the northeast has short days and long nights, and this train is perfect for having dinner and sleeping on the train, and arriving in Mohe the next morning to start your day. So, after the tickets are released 15 days in advance on 12306, the soft sleeper tickets are almost sold out immediately. 📝 Ticket tips: 1. Be sure to get a soft sleeper. Soft sleeper is CNY 398.5, hard sleeper is CNY 254.5. In the winter, trust me, choose a soft sleeper for a more comfortable night's sleep and you'll be refreshed the next day. 2. Prioritize Harbin-Mohe. If you can't get a ticket, don't worry, there's a second option. 3. You can buy tickets in segments. For example, Harbin-Jiagedaqi, then Jiagedaqi-Mohe. We were traveling as a group of four, and at first we were worried that if we bought tickets this way, we would be separated, so we were prepared to ask someone to switch tickets with us. But the system should be able to recognize this, and there should be extra tickets for segments. The four of us bought tickets separately, and our seats were perfectly together. 🧳 Preparation: What to wear? Harbin and Mohe are both below -20°C, and Mohe feels colder, but the train is not cold, especially inside the carriage. Wear a short sleeve or thin base layer inside, suitable for sleeping in the closed carriage at night. When you go out, you must wear down pants and a down jacket, and be sure to bring a hat, gloves, and a mask! The wind is bone-chilling!

Ice and Snow Wonderland: A Journey to Heilongjiang

Ice and Snow Wonderland: A Journey to Heilongjiang

Heilongjiang, located at the northernmost part of China, boasts magnificent natural landscapes and rich northeastern culture. During this four-day, three-night trip, I delved into this snow-covered land, from the white winter scenery to the historical and cultural heritage, and the warm hospitality of the people, all of which made me admire this city and its surrounding natural landscapes. Day 1: Harbin's Urban Landscape and Ice and Snow World My journey to Heilongjiang began in Harbin. As the provincial capital, Harbin has a rich Russian cultural background and unique historical features. In winter, the ice and snow scenery here is particularly enchanting. The first attraction I visited was the famous "Ice and Snow World." This is the most representative event in Harbin every winter. As soon as I entered this ice and snow world, I was instantly amazed by the colorful ice sculptures. The various shapes of ice sculptures are lifelike, including huge ice castles, exquisite animal sculptures, and some artistic works. These ice sculptures, under the illumination of lights, appear crystal clear and breathtakingly beautiful. The cold air and the icy environment give the whole world a magical feeling. In the Ice and Snow World, I also experienced ice slides, bumper cars on ice, and other ice and snow amusement facilities. Despite the temperature dropping to around minus 20 degrees Celsius, these activities made me completely forget the cold and have a great time. In the evening, I headed to Harbin's Central Street. This street is filled with European-style buildings, especially at night when the street lights and shop window decorations make the whole area look like a charming little town. There are many small shops, cafes, and restaurants here. I tasted the local Russian bread and beer, feeling the deep influence of Russian culture in Harbin. Day 2: Historical Exploration of Saint Sophia Cathedral and Sophia Square On the second day, I visited Saint Sophia Cathedral in Harbin. This cathedral is one of the most iconic buildings in Harbin, built in the early 20th century, blending Russian Orthodox architectural styles. Standing in front of the cathedral, I was deeply attracted by this magnificent building. The red brick walls and golden domes create a solemn and sacred atmosphere. Inside the cathedral, the splendid mosaics and towering domes make one feel the religious artistic charm that has been preserved for a century. After leaving Saint Sophia Cathedral, I went to the nearby Sophia Square. This is the heart of Harbin, surrounded by many old buildings, giving a strong sense of history. In the square, you can not only admire the beautiful architecture but also feel the cultural integration of the city, with Russian style and northeastern local characteristics intertwined, helping me better understand Harbin's diverse cultural background. Day 3: The Fairy Tale World of Snow Town On the third day, I left Harbin and headed to the famous "Snow Town" in China—Shuangyashan. This is one of the most representative winter attractions in Heilongjiang, known as the "Fairy Tale World." Upon arriving in Snow Town, I was completely captivated by the snow scenery. Snowflakes covered the treetops, roofs, and paths, turning the whole village into an ice and snow wonderland. Especially the famous "Snow Lotus," a natural landscape formed due to the cold, with snowflakes blooming like petals on the branches, resembling a scene from a fairy tale. I strolled through the village of Snow Town, feeling the strong northeastern folk culture. The local villagers enthusiastically introduced me to the local specialties, such as rich winter folk activities and traditional northeastern cuisine. The local kang stove and handmade ice lanterns further added to the northern atmosphere. One of the highlights of this trip was riding a horse through the snowfields. Although the temperature was extremely low, riding on the snow felt like being part of a vivid painting, making this experience unforgettable. Day 4: Arctic Scenery in Mohe On the last day of the trip, I arrived in Mohe, the northernmost city in China. This is the closest place to the Arctic in China, and the winter cold here is astonishing. The beauty of Mohe is not the bustling urban beauty but a simple, primitive beauty that perfectly blends with nature. Standing on the streets of Mohe, looking at the small houses and snow-covered roads, I couldn't help but marvel at the power of nature. In Mohe, I visited the local Arctic Village, which has a strong polar scenery. Some unique attractions in the village, such as the "Arctic Point Marker," aurora viewing spots, and displays of life in extreme cold environments, filled me with awe for this snow-covered land. In Mohe, I was also fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights for the first time in my life. The appearance of the aurora, like green ribbons dancing in the sky, deeply imprinted this scene in my heart, becoming one of the most unforgettable memories of this trip to Heilongjiang. Travel Insights and Suggestions This trip to Heilongjiang made me deeply feel the natural wonders and cultural charm of this northern land. The ice and snow scenery, rich historical culture, and strong northeastern style of Heilongjiang filled me with respect for this land. If you plan to travel to Heilongjiang, I have a few suggestions: First, the winter in Heilongjiang is very cold, especially in Mohe and Snow Town. It is recommended to wear warm clothing, especially thermal jackets, gloves, scarves, and non-slip shoes, to fully experience the winter scenery here. Second, the transportation in Heilongjiang is relatively inconvenient, especially the long journey to Snow Town and Mohe. It is best to plan your itinerary in advance to avoid wasting time. Finally, the food in Heilongjiang is also very distinctive, especially northeastern hot pot and handmade dumplings, which are not to be missed. Overall, Heilongjiang is a magical place. Whether it is the grandeur of the Ice and Snow World or the fairy tale world of Snow Town, I was deeply enchanted. This trip undoubtedly sparked a strong interest in this magical land, and I look forward to returning one day to experience more surprises and beauty.

A very special place: Mohe. All the photos are taken from mobile phone.

This was our first time in Mohe. We didn’t manage to plan it properly due to the limited information we have prior to our trip but here are some of the things I wished I knew right before hand. But first here are the itinerary: 🗓️Itinerary Scheduling: Day 1 arrived Mohe in the morning. Super cold so you need to be prepared. Arranged a driver to pick us from the train station. Went straight to hotel. Had our breakfast and start the day by going to arctic village. Didn’t manage to stay because we have already prepared our trip to stay in Mohe. Wished I knew ahead of time and plan a night here. Along the way we stopped at the deer park and white tree forest. Day 2: Started my day by going to train station to cancel off my train ticket due to the fact that we cannot tolerate smoking train all the way from Harbin to Mohe. We leave this for another review. We decided to buy the flight ticket back to Harbin. Best decision ever. Went to beihong village, did some of the side trip stops and played with the hot water effect. Day 3: Went to the Heilongjiang 18 bends. Very cold and spent some time walking around the park admiring its beauty. Went back to town and played with some ice activities in town before lunch. Walked around the street market and shops in town. Went to the airport around 3pm to catch a flight. We were looking forward to the 18 hours train ride from Harbin to mohe but it turns out that this is just way too Smokey for our liking. We couldn’t get any other ticket but only the hard sleeper was available. Most smokers will smoke in between the carriage and there is no ventilation inside the train because the windows are closed tight. Better off to buy the flight ticket if can’t get the second class sleeper. Overall, the experience we had in Mohe is so beautiful that we are already planning to go again. Hope you get some tips and helpful ways to plan for your next holiday to Mohe. #heilongjiang ##mohe #

Yanji, Changbai, Snow Town, Mohe | 9-Day Trip to the North

The aurora in Mohe has taken over my social media feed, it's so beautiful! It's like a romantic painting created by nature with vibrant colors and magical brushstrokes. Mohe, a mysterious place located at the northernmost tip of China, is a treasure hidden by nature. ・ ❄️Best time to visit Mohe (Aurora) From December to February, Mohe is in the polar night period, making it relatively easier to see the aurora. ・ ❄️9-Day Itinerary DAY 1: Tour Jilin City DAY 2: Jilin - Rime Corridor - Korean Folk Village - Internet-famous Wall - Food Tour - Stay in Yanji DAY 3: Yanji - Laolike Lake Secret Land - Horse-drawn Sled - Encounter Reindeer - Glacier Night Fishing - Internet-famous Fireworks - Volcanic Hot Spring - Erdao DAY 4: Erdao - Extreme Cold Rime Rafting - Changbai Mountain Scenic Area - Tianchi - Lvyuantan - Dunhua DAY 5: Dunhua - Fairy Tale World - VLOG Video - Snow Bonfire - Snow Town DAY 6: Snow Town - Dreamy Ice and Snow Walkway - Snow Country Train - Mohe DAY 7: Mohe - Northernmost Outpost - Christmas Village - Northernmost Post Office - Seven Star Square - Stay in Beiji Village DAY 8: Beiji - Cross the Pristine Birch Forest - Longjiang First Bay - Wusuli Shoal - Golden Rooster Crown Square - Shenzhou North Pole - Internet-famous Fireworks - Stay in Beiji Village DAY 9: Beiji Village - Ice and Snow Reindeer - Beiji Ice Sculpture - Return from Mohe ・ ❄️Must-visit Attractions ✔️Rime Corridor: Located on the banks of the Songhua River, it's a great place to admire the rime spectacle. ✔️Korean Folk Village: Experience rich Korean folk culture and enjoy unique ethnic customs. ✔️Laolike Lake Snow Ridge Secret Land: Thick snow covers the area, with small wooden houses deep in the forest and various ice and snow activities. You may have the chance to interact closely with reindeer. ✔️Changbai Mountain Scenic Area: Admire the magnificent views of Tianchi, Lvyuantan, and Changbai Icefall, and feel the grandeur of nature. ✔️Snow Town: The fairy tale-like Bear Ridge, snow mushrooms, and snow houses look especially photogenic under the night lights. Stroll along the ice and snow walkway, as if in a fairy tale world, and join the snow party at night. ✔️Mohe: A mysterious place, feel the solemnity of the northernmost outpost, check in at Christmas Village to find Santa Claus and reindeer, send postcards with blessings to your loved ones from the northernmost post office, and join the bonfire party at Seven Star Square at night. ✔️Beiji Village: Cross the pristine birch forest, like a Nordic forest in a dream, and you may have the chance to see the romantic aurora at night! ・ ❄️Accommodation Mohe County: The accommodation conditions in the county are relatively better, with hotels and inns to choose from, and the prices are reasonable. Beiji Village and Beihong Village: Mostly homestays, the room facilities may not be very complete, but you can deeply experience the local customs. The hotel is recommended to be the four-diamond Suojin in Beiji Village, with good reviews. First of all, the location is very convenient, about 10 minutes' walk to Beiji Star Square, and the commercial street is just across the street. The price is very reasonable, and the rooms are more spacious compared to other hotels. The facilities have a nostalgic feel and are very cozy. The only downside is that the breakfast variety is relatively limited. ・ ✈️Transportation: You can fly directly to Mohe, but the ticket prices are slightly higher. It's recommended to fly directly to Harbin and then take the Snow Country Train to Mohe. There are many train options, and the scenery along the way is really beautiful. 🚗Travel: It's recommended to book a car or join a tour in advance when traveling in Mohe, as the attractions are far apart, especially in winter when the temperature in Mohe is low, requiring high driving skills. ・ ❄️Mohe Travel Tips The temperature is cold in winter, so keeping warm is the top priority. 🔹Thermal underwear, sweaters, down jackets, and windbreakers are important for outdoor warmth. 🔹Non-slip snow boots with thick insoles and socks to keep your feet warm and prevent slipping. 🔹Scarves, gloves, hats, and masks to reduce skin exposure and resist the cold.
