Introduction Bird watching in Shanxi Wetlands

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate

At the end of the chilly spring, the rivers and wetlands of Shanxi quietly awaken, the ice breaks, the ripples spread, and the migratory birds return. On the banks of the Dan River in Zezhou, the banks of the Sanggan River in Datong, and the Zhangze Lake in Changzhi... the migratory birds check in at the Shanxi wetlands like "air elves", interweaving with the new green on the river bank to form an ecological picture of "birds playing in spring water".

Taiyuan Fenhe Wetland Park

In the prosperity of Taiyuan, Fenhe Wetland Park is like a spring pearl. The glaciers are just beginning to open, the river water is leisurely, and the water birds are playing here to their heart's content, bringing natural wildness and vitality to the city.

Datong Guangling Huliuhe Wetland

The Huliuhe Wetland, which is protected by artificial feeding of migratory birds in winter, is more lively after the ice melts in spring. This is the habitat of rare birds such as black cranes and white-tailed sea eagles. The thawed wetlands become an "energy supply station" for migratory birds on their way.

Datong Sanggan River National Wetland Park

The frozen surface of the Sanggan River began to melt, half of it was broken ice, reflecting the sunlight like a broken mirror; the other half was gurgling and sparkling. Water birds flew in groups, gliding on the water or walking on the ice, and the birds chirped, outlining a unique spring scene.

Shuozhou Shentouquan National Wetland Park

In the early spring of Shentouquan National Wetland Park, most of the glaciers melted, and the clear water surface was sparkling, which contrasted with the remaining ice. Water birds shuttled through it, looking for food among the water plants, and sometimes splashing crystal water, showing the vitality of spring to the fullest.

Changzhi Zhangze Lake National Urban Wetland Park

When the spring breeze blew through Changzhi, the ice layer of Zhangze Lake had begun to melt quietly. On the clear lake, flocks of water birds are either swimming gracefully or flying high, hunting and playing in the sparkling water, playing a lively spring movement.

Jincheng Danhe National Wetland Park

In early spring, walking into Danhe National Wetland Park is like being in a moving painting. Rare birds such as herons and mandarin ducks live and breed here, performing the movement of life. The blend of ice and water is like a poem and a painting.

Yuncheng Salt Lake Wetland

The sparkling lake surface and the mountains in the distance complement each other, and groups of elegant swans dance on the lake. They are either leisurely playing in the water or flying high, adding a touch of agility and vitality to this wetland.

Hanging Monastery

#ancienttownvibes Visiting the Hanging Monastery (悬空寺) was a truly unforgettable experience. Nestled against the cliffs of Mount Heng in Shanxi Province, this ancient structure is a marvel of engineering and artistry. As I approached, I was struck by the breathtaking views and the monastery's unique architecture, which seems to defy gravity as it clings to the rock face. The journey to the monastery involves a bit of a hike, but every step is worth it as the surrounding landscape is stunning. Once inside, I was fascinated by the intricate carvings and the blend of Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian elements that reflect the site's rich cultural history. The monks' dedication to preserving this site is evident, and their warmth made the visit even more special. Walking along the wooden walkways that connect the various halls, I could feel the serenity of the place. The atmosphere was peaceful, allowing for quiet reflection amidst the stunning backdrop. Overall, the Hanging Monastery is a remarkable testament to ancient ingenuity and spirituality, and it’s a must-visit for anyone exploring China’s historical sites.

Majestic Big Buddha Statue 🪷

Located inShanxi Province, the Mengshan Big Buddha is one of the “must-see” if you are in town. I don’t really like hiking up mountains but this hike was surprisingly enjoyable. The view was simply beautiful. the contrast between the green leaves, the gray concrete stains and red papers (prayers and wishes) hanging by the chains tied all the way up the stairs leading the way to the grand statue. It was breathtaking! There were small shops that you will pass along the hike that sells cold and warm beverages and some simple foods like rice bowls and noodles. So no need to worry if you feel hungry. i suggest to wear comfy clothes and shoes to make the hike easier for you. #bigbuddha #shanxi #china #제주돼지 #mountain #hike #buddhist #travel

The top ten places to visit in Shanxi!

In the vast land of Sanjin, Shanxi, there are ten places you must visit. They are like bright pearls on the loess plateau, each with its own characteristics, exuding unique charm. First, we are going to visit the Hanging Temple of Hengshan. This building, which was built during the Northern Wei Dynasty, has a history of more than 1500 years and is the most dangerous high-altitude wooden cliff building in the world. It hangs in the air like a painting, hanging on the cliff, which is breathtaking. Next, we are going to Wutai Mountain in Xinzhou. As the first of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, Wutai Mountain not only has monks of dry boats, but also can see the horns of Tibetan boats. It is the intersection of faith and culture, which makes people awe. Then, let's come to Ying County and admire the highest tomb tower building in the world - Ying County Wooden Tower. This building, more than 60 meters high, does not use a nail or rivet, and is built entirely by traditional mortise and tenon technology. It is tilting every year, and it is a precious building that you see less once. Then, we come to the Eight Springs Gorge of Taihang Mountain. This is the essence of the Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon, known as the peak of mountain and water scenery in Shanxi. The canyon is deep, and the mountain spring waterfall flows, which is intoxicating. In addition, we are going to visit Yanmenguan in Xinzhou. The history here can be traced back to the Warring States Period. The stories of Zhaojun going out of the fortress and the Yang family are well-known, and it is known as the first pass in China. Next, let's walk into the Yungang Grottoes in Datong. As one of the four major grottoes in China, the Yungang Grottoes were built during the Northern Wei Dynasty. The statues here blend the essence of traditional Chinese art style, ancient Indian culture and Western Region culture, which is breathtaking. Then, we are going to Linchuan Wangmangling. The forest coverage rate here is over 95%, and the summer temperature remains between 18~20 degrees, which is an ideal place for summer in Shanxi. In addition, we are going to admire the Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River. Although the Hukou Waterfall spans Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, the water of the Yellow River here is surging and surging, like a rush from the sky, giving people a strong visual impact. Finally, we are going to Pingyao Ancient City in Jinzhong. This is the only ancient county town in the country that has successfully applied for World Cultural Heritage as a whole ancient city. It is full of the atmosphere of ancient Jin merchants' culture, which makes people feel as if they have traveled through time and space and returned to that prosperous era.

Yuncheng Salt Lake: Uncovering The Chinese Dead Sea Secrets

Yuncheng Salt Lake: Uncovering The Chinese Dead Sea Secrets

#traveldiaries Yuncheng Yanchi is located in the south of Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, at the northern foot of Zhongtiao Mountain.Yanchi is bordered by Qiligang and Shishiligang in Yuncheng City to the north, Zhongtiao Mountain to the south, Anyi to the east, and Jiezhou to the west. The salt pond is 20 to 35 kilometers long from east to west and 3 to 5 kilometers wide from north to south. It is surrounded by high ground and a low-lying shape in the middle. The total area is about 130 square kilometers. The surface of the pond is 320 meters above sea level and the water depth is 0.22 meters. It is a natural inland salt lake. Yuncheng Salt Pond is rich in resources. In addition to salt and Glauber's salt, there are also magnesium sulfate, calcium sulfate, potassium, bromine, boron and other rare elements. The history of Yanchi can be traced back to the early spring and autumn, when the pond salt in Hedong was already very famous.During the Two Han Dynasties, salt officials were set up in Anyi County to manage salt industry affairs. The output of Hedong Salt Pond in the Song Dynasty reached 82.5 million catties.By the mid-1980s, the salt pond had an annual output of 30,000 tons of raw salt, and the annual chemical production capacity was 37,000 tons of alkali sulfide and 280,000 tons of anhydrous glauber's salt. Because its salt content is similar to the “Dead Sea” in the Middle East, people can float without sinking in the water, so it is known as the “Dead Sea of China”. Yuncheng Salt Lake Scenic Area is located in the central area of Salt Lake Lake. It is a national 4A-level scenic area, integrating humanities, ecology, greenness and health.Relying on the unique salt lake resources, the scenic area has developed tourism projects such as “floating in the dead sea, black mud health, hot spring hydrotherapy, mineral salt physiotherapy, and salt spray to clear the lungs”. The formation of Yuncheng Salt Pond can be traced back to the period of the tectonic movement of the Himalayas in the Cenozoic Era, and it has a history of about 50 million years.Due to the large-scale subsidence of the ground to the north of Zhongtiao Mountain, the original prototype of Yuncheng Basin and salt pond was formed. After long-term precipitation and evaporation, a natural salt lake has been formed. Yuncheng Yanchi's unique geographical location and rich natural resources make it the largest lake in Shanxi Province, which has a profound impact on local economic development and cultural inheritance. From the legendary battle between the Yanhuang Alliance and Chi You in the “Zhuolu" near Yanchi, to the many legends of Yao, Shun, and Yu in the southern Jin Region, to the development and prosperity of the Xia, Shang, and San Dynasties in Hedong, Heluo, and Guanzhong regions, they are all within hundreds of miles of Hedong Yanchi.
