Come visit Louisiana!

I’ve never been to Louisiana before but after this trip I’ll be sure to visits again! Going to the French Quarter was an experience in itself with the live music, delicious market food and sweet deals. You HAVE to try Bésame-Nola, a Latin inspired tapas bar that serves bite sized portions of huge flavors. I had never tried an arepa before and after ordering 2 pork arepas, it will not be my last time. Their portioned Paella was flavorful and was packed with shrimp, mussels, and clams. The rice was moist and delicious. They also had a Cauliflower dish that had Latin spices and edible flowers on it. loved it. the Mfongo with jerk pork was their best seller! and last but certainly not least their Ceviche was fresh with salmon and the chili oil kicked it up a notched.#bucketlistreboot #neworleans #tripblazers #tripblazers

Steamboats and Swamp boat in N'awlins

Where: New Orleans, Louisiana When: November 2017 This was a very quick trip to New Orleans, we were only in town for 3 days. But what a packed and fun-filled 3 days they were. We didn't have a car while in town so we travelled almost everywhere by foot (unless we were on tour boat or bus) and what a remarkably easy city it is to get around. Our trip on Steamboat Natchez took us east from the port along the Mississippi a ways before turning around. The commentary throughout was great and we loved that there was a bar on-board. If I was heading back to New Orleans I think I would try the dinner cruise next time. On day 2 we joined a bus tour our in to the bayous where boarded a swamp boat to look for Gators. Now I'm an Aussie so I am well used to Crocodiles but it was fun travelling around the swamp in the flat bottom boat. It gives a different perspective of Louisiana life and our guide was hysterical. I'm not sure I've laughed so hard in my life. We took in a bit of shopping on our 3rd and final day and it wouldn't be trip to New Orleans if we didn't;t stop for hot fresh Beignets from Cafe Du Monde. They were every bit as delicious as I have heard they were. 10/10 #gooutside

The Pharmacy Museum: A Curious Glimpse into History

#usatrip Located in the French Quarter, the Pharmacy Museum is one of New Orleans’ quirkiest and most fascinating hidden gems. Housed in the building of America’s first licensed pharmacist, this museum is a treasure trove of medical oddities, antique medicines, and curious artifacts from the 19th century. Stepping inside feels like entering a time capsule, with apothecary jars, old surgical instruments, and displays that tell the story of early healthcare practices in New Orleans. The courtyard garden is a peaceful spot to reflect on the unusual and sometimes eerie history you’ve just explored. The Pharmacy Museum is a must-see for history buffs and anyone with a love for the strange and unique.

Great Cajun food in New Orleans

One of the things to do in new Orleans is to indluge in their Cajun cuisine and unique dishes. Cochon came recommended by an old friend. And it's didn't disappoint us at all. Even to start with the beef pie totally set the standard. Thereafter every dish we tried was a winner. In my opinion this place is serving the best wood-fired oysters I’ve ever had. Since it was 6 of us we tried several mains and i remember porterhouse pork chops being nicely smoked. The drinks were all spot on. We tried the pineapple upside down cake with ice cream. This dessert was perfectly balanced.. warm cake almost bread pudding-like with the ice cream... not too sweet with the slightly tart pineapple. It was a real treat. All in all it made for a great experience. I think for first timers to new Orleans looking to explore Cajun cuisine must stop by for a bite. #usatrip #localguides #neworleans #familytrip #summerdestinations #mytravelhacks #100waysoftravel

New Orleans City Park

This park was larger than Central Park in New York and the oldest oak trees in the world were located in this park. The trees look so beautiful it's like they're wearing a veil on their heads. There was also an amusement park and a museum nearby.I was able to travel as much as possible because I traveled in the spring, when the weather was really nice.If you want to get lost in nature like me, I suggest go to this park. #neworleans #citypark #usatravel #Oaktree
