The hotel's unique lotus-shaped architecture immediately caught my eye, perfectly blending with the surrounding yellow sand. It was breathtaking. The friendly staff greeted me with a welcome drink and a small gift 🎁 when I checked in. The room was full of surprises, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the endless desert. Whether it was the golden light at sunrise or the blood-red sunset, the view was mesmerizing. The room was tastefully decorated, and the bed was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The food here is a foodie's paradise! The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, from local specialties to global cuisine, and every meal is satisfying. Plus, it's all-inclusive, so there's no need to worry about extra expenses. There are so many activities to enjoy! Ride a camel through the desert and feel the vastness of the desert; take a thrilling desert roller coaster ride and feel your heart race; or try sandboarding and feel the wind in your ears. Kubuqi Desert 🇨🇳 Inner Mongolia

Hiking in the Desert is an experience I'll never forget. It was as expected ridiculously hot, with almost no shade. The hiking itself is moderately difficult, you'll just need to make sure you carry enough water as there are no vendors until you reach the campsites. The kit lists you'll be advised to prepare for this kind of tour are completely excessive 🤣. You'll need a pair of hiking shoes, a hat and a load of sun cream (plus your regular travel bag). The guides in our case provided the poles and shoes covers. For the hike, we put all our bags into the tour bus, which met us later in the evening at the campsite. In the campsite they had large communal showers, a huge firepit, a 'restaurant' and a small shop to buy drinks, snacks and local alcoholic beverages. The evening entertainment was a battery powered KTV speaker, Chinese lanterns and a box of fireworks. A cool trip and a different experience.

There are very few people during this season, so you can have a great experience without going to crowded places like Harbin. How to play in Hohhot?

I traveled to Hohhot for 4 days in mid-August and visited Dazhao Temple, Guanyin Temple, Wulanhada Volcano, Huitengxile Grassland, Huanghua Valley Scenic Area, Xiangshawan, Chilu River, and Hasuhai. Here are some travel tips: 1. Dazhao Temple and Guanyin Temple. Worth a visit, the two attractions are not far apart, both near Saishang Old Street, and can be reached on foot. Dazhao Temple is a Lamaist temple, and the silver Buddha, dragon carvings, and murals in the temple are quite distinctive and worth appreciating. Guanyin Temple is the only well-preserved Qing Dynasty Han Buddhist temple in Hohhot, and the tall Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin statue inside the hall is awe-inspiring, solemn, and majestic. It takes about three hours to visit both places. Nearby are the Baorhan Pagoda and Xiaozhao Temple, which you can visit if you have more time. 2. Wulanhada Volcano Geological Park. There are volcanoes No. 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Due to time constraints, we only visited volcano No. 6. The scenery is average, but you can rent a spacesuit for photos, which children might enjoy. If you are short on time, you can skip this attraction. 3. Huitengxile Grassland. The grassland in August is green and undulating, very beautiful, with many wind turbines that make for great photos. It is highly recommended to ride a horse to experience the refreshing feeling. 4. Huanghua Valley Scenic Area. The most worthwhile scenic spot to visit, located within the Huitengxile Grassland. There are many wildflowers, blooming flowers, green grass, blue sky, and white clouds, making it perfect for taking photos that can be used as screensavers. The popular small train and cable car are a must-ride, and the scenery is picturesque, allowing you to fully relax your mind. Check the weather forecast before going; if it rains, many activities cannot be enjoyed, and the scenery will be greatly diminished. I recommend the Zama Banquet in the scenic area service area, where you can taste Mongolian court banquet delicacies and watch singing and dancing performances, which are very unique. It is said that the Zama Banquet in the service area is organized by the government and is of higher quality, while those in other places are not as good, but I don't know if that's true. 5. Xiangshawan. We chose to stay at the Lotus Hotel, which provided an excellent experience. The staff delivered our luggage to our room, and visitors take a cable car to enter. The scenery is beautiful, and the sunset in front of the hotel is mesmerizing, making for great photos. Hotel guests have priority access to various amusement projects without queuing. We visited Xiansha Island and Heyue Island, and the shuttle buses include jeeps and uniquely designed desert ship cars. There are many amusement projects, and we mainly took the small train, monster truck, played sand sliding, rode off-road motorcycles, and even rode camels. Most of the projects are suitable for children, making it perfect for family outings. The hotel has a swimming pool and a bar, with good service. The restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious buffet food. The evening concert is highly recommended, with a fireworks show in the middle, creating a great atmosphere. It is suggested to watch it from the sand dunes. 6. Chilu River and Hasuhai. Two very small attractions. Chilu River only has a photo spot worth seeing, and Hasuhai is a wetland park that feels average. Both are free to visit, so you can take a quick look if you are passing by. Food: Different places have different people and eating habits. We tried ice-boiled lamb, tripe-wrapped meat, and lamb offal, but found them a bit gamey and not as tasty as the lamb in Yinchuan. Saishang Old Street and Kuang Alley are both food streets, and I recommend Kuang Alley, which has more snacks. The fruit soup and cheese-stuffed pancakes left a deep impression. Accommodation: It is recommended to stay near the food street for convenient access to delicious food at night. We stayed in a yurt for one night during our trip, but the experience was not good due to poor hygiene conditions. If you must experience it, be sure to bring disposable bedding.
