A winter trip to Inner Mongolia is a chance to encounter stunning scenery.

A winter trip to Inner Mongolia is a chance to encounter stunning scenery.

What to do in Hohhot in winter? When it comes to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, the first thing that comes to mind is the vast grasslands. It seems that there is nothing to do in winter. Indeed, many scenic spots are closed during this season. What to do? Actually, it's time to try something different! Off-road vehicle routes offer a chance to see many natural wonders, such as snowy volcanoes, the Red Mountain, and the desert. Off-road vehicles can take you through forests and grasslands, skiing, and snowmobiling. These activities are perfect for this winter. There are very few people during this season, so you can have a great experience without going to crowded places like Harbin. Recommended attractions: Desert Many scenic spots are closed, but the Kubuqi Desert and Resonant Sand Gorge are still open in November. You don't have to go to a scenic spot to enjoy the desert. Local tours offer off-road vehicle rides through the desert. This tour includes a four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle that takes you to the wild desert of Longtouguai, deep into the desert, where you can enjoy unlimited sandboarding. Grassland The grass in Huitengxile Grassland has turned yellow, and the scenic spot is closed. At this time, local tours can take you through the Huiteng Forest Grassland, a relatively niche area with no entrance fee. It features birch and pine forests, offering a more primitive landscape. Wulanhada Volcano Wulanhada Volcano is free all year round. The volcano is black, and its appearance is not affected by the seasons. Red Mountain This is not a scenic spot, but a red Danxia landform. The red mountain is perfect for photography, with no filter needed. The road is under construction, so low-chassis cars are not suitable. You need a high-chassis off-road vehicle. This season is perfect for off-road vehicle tours. You can enjoy many natural landscapes without entrance fees. ❤❤ Food Recommendations 🍛 Pot tea milk tea (salty or sweet), ice-cooked lamb (highly recommended!!), roasted lamb chops, milk skin, stuffed tripe, jiong noodles, handmade old yogurt, freshly roasted beef jerky, sand onion scrambled eggs, lamb skewers, xiguo soup, lamb shumai, yurt cake, etc. ❤❤ Tips Inner Mongolia is vast and sparsely populated. If you drive or travel independently, it can be difficult to solve any problems that arise. It is recommended to join a reliable local tour group. This way, accommodation, transportation, and tickets are all planned for you. The cost per person is not expensive, and compared to independent travel, it is truly more convenient and cost-effective!

Hohhot, waiting for you to continue your travel story!

Hohhot Deep Travel Guide: Summer Style, Five Days of Non-Stop Excitement! 🌟Departure: Arriving at Qingcheng at Night, Warm Start Stepping into July in Hohhot, an impromptu trip quietly begins. As night falls, we arrive at this pearl of the grasslands and check into the Inner Mongolia Wanhao Grand Hotel (Baita Airport High-Speed Rail East Station Branch). Its convenient location (only a 10-minute drive from the airport and 1.4 kilometers from the East Station) and thoughtful shuttle and breakfast services make the first night of the journey warm and comfortable. 🌄Day 1-2: Volcano Exploration, Romance Under the Stars The next morning, the rented vehicle arrives on time, and we drive to the Wulanhada Volcano Group, where a dialogue between time and nature is about to unfold. Upon arrival, we first rest at the Time Volcano Homestay, enjoying the afternoon tranquility. Then, we embark on an exploration journey: horseback and camel riding at Volcano No. 3, astronaut-themed photo shoots at Volcano No. 6, and agate treasure hunting at Volcano No. 8. Every spot is filled with our laughter. At dusk, the sunset atop the volcano and the starry night sky add endless romance to this trip. 🌿Day 3: Galloping on the Grasslands, Mongolian Style We drive to the Huitengxile Grassland, where the vast sea of green is refreshing. On the grassland, we experience the joy of horseback riding and participate in the grand Zhamayan feast, feeling the rich Mongolian style. Although the experience of staying in a yurt was slightly disappointing, the vastness of the grassland and the coolness of the night made us forget all the unpleasantness. 🌅Day 4: Exploring Huanghuagou, Returning to the City In the morning, we set off again to Huanghuagou, where a visual and spiritual feast awaits us. Riding the cable car through the ravines, we marvel at nature's craftsmanship. After lunch, we watch the wonderful Xianghui Aobao performance, experiencing the unique charm of Mongolian culture. Then, we return to Hohhot, strolling through the solemn Dazhao Temple and the bustling Saishang Old Street, tasting authentic Mongolian cuisine, and concluding this trip perfectly. 🏞️Day 5: Desert Adventure, Ultimate Experience If time permits, consider heading to the Xiangshawan Desert to experience the vastness and mystery of the desert. Sand sliding, camel riding, and watching the desert sunset—each activity offers unprecedented excitement and shock. Of course, if you prefer not to travel far, the Inner Mongolia Museum, Dazhao Wuliang Temple, and General's Office in Hohhot are cultural treasures not to be missed. 💡Travel Tips: Remember to book Mongolian robes online to avoid high prices at scenic spots. The wind in Inner Mongolia is strong, so bring windproof hats and thick clothes. Dazhao Temple closes at 6 PM, so plan your time accordingly. Food recommendations: Kuangxiangzi, Hui District, Saishang Old Street. Don't miss the milk tea, beef jerky, and shaomai. In this vast land, every moment is a scenery, and every stop is a story. I really didn't expect to find such a nice hotel in the desert

I really didn't expect to find such a nice hotel in the desert

Every year we go to the desert for car racing and trekking during this season, because we want to avoid the peak travel times. We always set out at this time of the year, and this year the local hosts recommended this hotel that's been restored in the desert. I was truly amazed. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a great desert vibe, including walls that look like they are coated with sand. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms are decent. The price is also acceptable. The key point is that the hotel offers both accommodation and meals, so there's no need to look elsewhere for food. The hotel is also very clean and quiet. I think we will come back next year.
