This spring, Liaoning is witnessing a breathtaking natural phenomenon. Massive flocks of migratory birds, known as bird waves, are returning north. In areas like Beipiao in Chaoyang, Kangping in Shenyang, Yalu River in Dandong, Liao Hekou in Panjin, and Tai'an in Anshan, species such as bean geese and Baikal teal are gathering in large numbers, either soaring across the sky or resting on the water, creating a spectacular sight. This natural spectacle is a celebration of life and freedom.
1. Shenyang Wolong Lake Nature Reserve
Best viewing time: March to May, especially March to April.
Birds to spot: Siberian cranes, oriental storks, hooded cranes, red-crowned cranes, white-tailed sea eagles, etc.
Bird-watching spots: Wolong Lake features four designated bird-watching spots, each equipped with shared telescopes. These spots allow visitors to clearly observe birds during migration, in flight, or at rest.
