Introduction

In Zhangye, sunset is an indispensable highlight of the travel experience. Zhangye's unique Danxia landform will show its charming charm at sunset. Standing on the observation deck, you can see the setting sun pouring down like molten gold, dyeing the mountains with a warm and mysterious color. Red, orange, yellow, purple and other colors are intertwined together, like paint on a palette being splashed at will, but just right to form a shocking picture. In addition to the Danxia landform, Zhangye's grasslands, lakes and other natural landscapes also show a different style at sunset. Here you can slow down and feel the infinite charm of nature.

Rainbow Mountains 🌈- Gansu, China

Getting There - take the bullet train to Zhangye railway station. Danxia scenic area is about 45 minute drive west from the city. Attractions - Danxia scenic area- rainbow mountains. this is an area of natural beauty which can partly be explored on foot (limited trails) and by hop on hop off tour bus. To buy your ticket you must bring your passport. The best times to go are sunrise and sunset! Hotels - we stayed at Kaoshan tents which are walking distance from this scenic area. The tents have fans, locks on the doors and towels and slippers provided. The showers and toilets are cleaned regularly making this a great ‘glamping’ experience. Food & Restaurants - We ate at Kaoshan tents as a great buffet breakfast was provided (waffles, eggs, Chinese options). In the evening, at an extra cost, you can have a DIY buffet barbecue which was a highlight of our stay. #campingglamping

Real rainbow mountain!

As I stood before the majestic Mati Si, also known as the Horse Hoof Temple, I couldn't help but marvel at its uniqueness. Nestled on the rocky walls of a mountain in Zhangye, this Tibetan masterpiece stood as a testament to human artistry and devotion. Unlike any other temple I had seen before, Mati Si seemed to defy gravity itself. The temple complex was intricately carved into the rugged cliffs, seemingly hanging on to the sheer rock face. It was a sight that left me in awe of the incredible human ingenuity and determination that went into creating such a remarkable structure. As I explored the temple, the relaxed atmosphere engulfed me, transporting me into a realm of tranquility. The soft whispers of the wind caressed my face, carrying with it a sense of serenity that seemed to be inherent to this sacred place. The gentle rustling of the leaves and the distant sound of chanting monks created a symphony of peace that resonated deep within my soul. Every step I took revealed intricate details etched into the rock walls. The vibrant colors of the frescoes depicted scenes from Tibetan Buddhism, telling stories of enlightenment, compassion, and spiritual journeys. The delicate sculptures of Buddhist deities seemed to come alive, their serene expressions radiating wisdom and tranquility. As I reached the highest point of the temple, a breathtaking panoramic view unfolded before my eyes. The vast expanse of the surrounding landscape stretched out endlessly, the mountains standing tall and proud in the distance. It was a moment of pure bliss, a feeling of being connected to something greater than myself. Mati Si was not just a temple; it was a place of pilgrimage, a sanctuary for those seeking solace and spiritual awakening. The combination of natural beauty and human craftsmanship made it a place of profound significance. It was a reminder that even amidst the chaos of the world, there are sanctuaries of peace and tranquility waiting to be discovered. As I reluctantly left Mati Si, I carried with me a deep sense of gratitude for having experienced such a remarkable place. The memory of the hanging temple, the gentle whispers of the wind, and the awe-inspiring beauty would forever be etched in my heart. Mati Si truly was a hidden gem, a Tibetan masterpiece that left an indelible mark on my soul. #trip #China #chinalife #chinatravel #adventure #zhangye #danxia

Stay at the Rainbow Danxia!!! Dongzhong Villa!!! It's so beautiful that it makes you cry.

👉🏿Stay at the Rainbow Danxia When you see the landscape in front of you, do you feel like you have entered the Danxia landform of the Northwest? However, this mysterious red cave is not a scenic spot, but a uniquely designed and comfortable forest villa. 👉🏿Tianjing Lake is located in the core area of the Rainbow Forest Scenic Area and is a fascinating scenic spot. The lake is as flat as a mirror, and the water reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and green trees. It is like a beautiful natural scroll, hence the name Tianjing Lake. 👉🏿There is a unique homestay hidden next to Tianjing Lake. The only four suites are uniquely designed, some are as warm and cute as squirrel nests, some are as mysterious and wonderful as caves and karst caves, and some are as colorful as the Rainbow Danxia, giving people a magical feeling of being immersive. 👉🏿The homestay also provides guests with a private butler throughout the process. The intimate service and high-quality hardware facilities make the experience absolutely beyond imagination! 👉🏿The room rate includes double scenic spot tickets and a carefully customized breakfast. In addition, the room also prepares grassland special snacks such as beef jerky, mellow dairy products, and sweet camel milk cakes for guests, which are very suitable for couples and parent-child families to vacation here. 👉🏿The room is fully equipped!!!

Silk Road gateway : Zhang Ye

Silk Road gateway : Zhang Ye

I believe many people have never been to a city in China called Zhangye. If you ask me what Zhangye is like, I’d say it’s a gateway on the Silk Road, filled with hidden surprises. There, you can experience sudden snowfall in the mountains, explore rolling sand dunes, and discover charming, locally-inspired cafes and unexpected sights. This city is rich in ethnic character and natural beauty. Best of all, it’s not crowded, so you can set your own pace, embracing a slower, poetic lifestyle steeped in local culture. When you’re tired, just settle into a cozy cafe for a coffee break. One day, you could explore the mountains; the next, marvel at the stunning colors of the Rainbow Mountains, which look beautiful from every angle. The most delightful surprise? They even have sand dunes here. To truly understand the meaning of the Silk Road, a stop in Zhangye is essential on your travel journey.

Zhangye • Colorful Danxia

Zhangye • Colorful Danxia

A palette 🎨 fallen to the mortal world, as beautiful as marbled meat. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't understand 'Without bathing in water, Danxia has no red hue; after the rain, the peaks are framed in green.' The Danxia landform is very beautiful, with different lighting casting different colors, and it is worth a visit. 【Viewing Routes】: North Entrance - Colorful Fairyland Platform - Colorful Cloud Sea Platform - Colorful Brocade Platform - Colorful Rainbow Mist Platform - North Entrance 【Viewing Platforms】: ① Viewing Point No.1: Colorful Fairyland Platform Close to the mountain, you can see the opposite mountain body at a close distance, suitable for taking full-body portraits. This is where most people stop to sightsee when they come in. ② Viewing Point No.2: Colorful Cloud Sea Platform A viewing platform that overlooks the entire panorama, with dining and shopping facilities for leisure. It takes time to climb up, and there are many platforms along the way where you can stop and rest. However, the platform at the top of the mountain offers a better view. From here, you can overlook several surrounding mountains, making it a viewing point with a broad view. ③ Viewing Point No.3: Colorful Brocade Platform The color of the mountain is uniform, giving a feeling of solidity and grandeur, reminiscent of a trip to Jurassic Park. This station is not very big and involves going uphill and downhill. Those with less physical strength can skip it. ④ Viewing Point No.4: Colorful Rainbow Mist Viewing Platform. The most beautiful viewing platform, with good angles for viewing and watching the sunset. Go before the sun sets, at this time the slanting sun shines on the mountain, rendering its colors beautifully. If it's a clear day, wait about 10 minutes after sunset, and you can see the afterglow.
