Tea-picking Treasures
Mengding Mountain: Surrounded by clouds and mist, Mengding Mountain Tea is the finest tea in Ya'an. As the ancient Chinese saying goes: "The best water is from the heart of the Yangtze River, the best tea is from the top of Mengding Mountain." The area is home to many varieties, such as Mengding Ganlu, Mengding Huangya, Mengding Shihua, Wanchun Yinye, and Yuye Changchun. Here, you can pick the tender green tea buds and experience their transformation from fingertips to the tip of your tongue.
Emei Snow Bud Organic Tea Base: Located near 30° north latitude in the Emei Mountains, this is the world's golden tea-producing area. Relying on the unique natural environment of Emei Mountain, there are nearly 5,000 acres of high-mountain ecological tea gardens. The 30℃ temperature difference in the forest creates the spectacle of "young buds in the snow," and the annual output is less than 1/10 of West Lake Longjing.
Gao County, Yibin: As a famous tea-growing area in Bashu, Gao County in Yibin has a long history of tea planting and brewing, and a profound tea culture. This is a high-quality early spring tea base in China, and the origin of Sichuan Red Gongfu tea. The Amber Gold Brew, a Sichuan Red Gongfu variety that is just as famous as Qi Hong and Dian Hong, but more niche, is the tea chosen by the Queen of England for her afternoon tea.
Chengjia Tea Town: Located in Pujiang County, the town offers not only tea picking but also hiking and foraging for wild vegetables and fruits. You can also check out the surrounding attractions such as Yunding Water Village Resort and Feixian Pavilion, and experience the ancient Tea-Horse Road.
Super Long Tea Picking Season
Generally, the best time to pick tea is from March to early May. During this period, the temperature rises and the tea trees begin to sprout. This is the golden period for picking spring tea, especially famous green tea varieties such as Emei Mountain tea and Mengding Mountain tea.
