Colombo|The little train from Spirited Away

Colombo|The little train from Spirited Away

When traveling to Sri Lanka, you definitely won't want to miss this seaside train that looks just like the one from Spirited Away~ It is said to be the prototype. We arrived at a very old and shabby station and bought very cheap tickets that cost around three to four yuan (the only thing we could understand was the Arabic numerals 😂). We waited on the platform for about twenty minutes, and then the train arrived. The carriage was very spacious, with locals sitting in small groups either chatting leisurely or casting friendly glances at us tourists. There was no ticket inspection at the station, the doors were open, and you could get on and off freely. Although it's called the 'seaside train,' it actually runs along the coast of the Indian Ocean. The train ride doesn't offer a full view of the ocean the entire time, and you shouldn't expect to see scenes like those in the animation. Most of the time, you'll see simple houses built by the residents along the coast... The scenery gets prettier as you approach the final stop, Colombo. In short, this little train ride is a nice experience, but you should lower your expectations and not compare it to the manga. Just enjoy the local atmosphere 😁.

Urban Beach 🏖️

#beachvacation Although I grew up in a province surrounded by Indian ocean 🌊 on two sides with the second longest shore in the world 🌍, there's always one hesitation in going to the beach 🏖️ which is getting into the beach clothes 😁 As I ain't someone with such nice beach body, going to this urban beach during my Sri Lanka visit was totally worth it. You may still get down to the 🪨 rocky places and have fun there in the water though. Resonating with the common beach ⛱️ scenes in the south east Asia, there are lot of small shops setup in van 🚚 with nice delicacies to enjoy 🍦 I'd also applaud the effort in making this place very neat and decent for families to enjoy!! #tripblazers#urbanexplorer#ukcreator #colombo

Pluck 🌿 the pink mosque 🕌 in Colombo.

Pluck 🌿 the pink mosque 🕌 in Colombo.

📍Detailed address: Near Pettah Market, Colombo, Sri Lanka. 🌈Highlight features: ✅The Red Mosque 🕌 was built in 1908 and is one of the landmark buildings in Colombo. ✅This is a red and white brick building that stands out in the bustling Beta district. ✅It is said that in the early 20th century, many sailors who came to Sri Lanka used it to identify whether they were at the port of Colombo. ✅A place that many people come to Colombo to check in, personally I think it is very worth visiting. 📌Small Tips: ✅When we went there, the mosque was having a prayer and only open to men. We couldn't go inside because it's a mosque🕌. Female tourists seem to have a special entrance, but they can't go inside the innermost area. So we just took some photos outside and left. ✅Encountered a travel photographer helping a handsome guy take photos. 💰Average spending per person: Admission: not required 🚗Transportation guide: Tuk-tuk or app-based taxi ⏳Playtime: about 1 hour 📝Attention tips: Beware of small ❤️ scammers!!! It's amazing that we even encountered a wild tour guide. A very enthusiastic local saw that we didn't go in and ran over to greet us, pulling out a map and chatting away. The world isn't that kind, I don't believe there are such kind-hearted people. Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque
