Our experience traveling in Jiuzhaigou was absolutely amazing! We entered the park on November 30th! We wore windbreakers with down liners underneath, which was completely sufficient! It was sunny and not cold at all! But be sure to bring thin gloves 🧤, your hands get really, really cold when taking photos! The park is well-organized... buses come and go frequently... wait time is less than 2 minutes. We first went to the right route, then had lunch at Nuorilang, followed by the left route. Actually, after seeing both routes, the main route isn’t that interesting anymore, so we just took a quick look and didn’t get off at several spots. We finished touring in one day and left before 5:00 PM. No need to get up early in the morning; we left the hotel at 8:30 and were already on the park bus by 9:10 AM. (We stayed at the Hilton Luyong Resort, which is very affordable in the off-season, only a little over 1,000 RMB per night. The hotel rooms have great views, and relaxing at the hotel is a pleasure.) It takes about 20 minutes to drive there. We found a local Tibetan uncle who gave us rides, which was much cheaper than taking a taxi. It’s so beautiful, so beautiful, so beautiful... I had only seen its beauty in pictures before, but experiencing it firsthand, I was truly captivated by its utterly pure and dreamily vibrant scenery. The water here is like living jewels, a palette of colors between heaven and earth. Five-Flower Lake is as colorful as a celestial pond, with dormant deadwood and algae on its bed intertwining to create magical light and shadow effects; Mirror Lake is as flat as a mirror, perfectly reflecting the snow-capped mountains and colorful forests, making it hard to distinguish between reality and illusion—in that moment, time seemed to stand still; Pearl Shoal Waterfall rushes endlessly, like the Milky Way pouring down, its roaring water filled with immense vitality. Every step is a painting, every turn a surprise. The scenery varies with the seasons, but that sense of vibrancy and sanctity cannot be fully captured by a camera; only by being there in person can one feel the mighty power and poetry of nature. Secondly, I must thank our beautiful and sweet-voiced tour guide, Wang Baiying. Her professionalism and friendliness added a warm undertone to the journey. She not only had a thorough understanding of the history, geology, ecology, and even Tibetan culture of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, but also explained things vividly and engagingly, citing classics and making the scenery come alive with stories and depth. Even more commendable was her meticulous friendliness: she constantly monitored the physical condition of the group members, repeatedly reminding us of precautions in high-altitude areas; she managed the pace of the itinerary appropriately, always securing the best viewing times and photo opportunities for us; her face always carried a sincere smile, patiently answering all questions and coordinating various small matters. She made the entire group feel like a temporary family, and a large part of the peace of mind and joy during the trip came from her thoughtful service. Finally, the overall itinerary arrangement was also reasonable and user-friendly. The connection from Huanglong to Jiuzhaigou was smooth, the driving times were well-planned, and there were plenty of rest stops along the way, avoiding the fatigue of long journeys. Ample time was allocated for sightseeing, covering the core essential attractions without feeling rushed. The accommodation and dining arrangements were also quite appropriate, especially the accommodation near the entrance of Jiuzhaigou, which made it convenient to enter the park early the next day, saving a lot of valuable time. The cable car one-way ticket is 80 RMB per person, choose according to your needs~ Important reminder! Make sure to prepare altitude sickness remedies in the city beforehand! Rhodiola oral liquid costs 18 RMB for 10 vials in the city, but in the scenic area, it’s sold at several times the price—80 RMB for 5 vials; if you’re driving yourself, buy oxygen bottles in advance, 6 RMB per bottle, but at the scenic area, the price jumps to 40 RMB. If you don’t prepare ahead, you’ll have no choice but to buy at the high price! Also, try to buy some snacks to stave off hunger because the supermarket there is ridiculously expensive. ☁️ The weather is quite unpredictable. When the sun is out during the day, the mountaintop is quite warm, but once the sun sets, the temperature drops sharply. Be sure to bring warm clothes with you so you don’t get cold! After arriving, you can choose to take the sightseeing bus or hike. The sightseeing bus costs 15 RMB one way, 20 RMB round trip (you must return the same way). I highly recommend taking the bus up and walking down—the scenery along the way is amazing, and strolling slowly is very enjoyable! 🌈 The Five-Color Pond is definitely worth the trip! If your altitude sickness isn’t severe, you must go see it; it’s not too far. The hike down takes about 2-3 hours.
