I finally stayed at Den-Paku The Beachfront MIJORA, a place I've always wanted to visit in Amami Oshima. You can see the beautiful ocean and sunset right from the bed, and step straight into the water from every room! 🪼 For most of our meals on the island, we dined at the hotel's restaurant, 2waters, for both breakfast and dinner. I really wanted to try local Amami ingredients, so I was completely satisfied. It was my mom's birthday, so they even prepared a special birthday plate for us! 🎉 You can choose to have breakfast in the restaurant or in your room. Amami Oshima, a remote island in Kagoshima Prefecture. January to March is the season for spotting whales on Amami Oshima. When I was still single in my 20s, I went whale watching in Zamami. The thrill of seeing whales breaching up close remains vivid even 30 years later. I'd always wanted to show my son whales, and this time, my dream came true! ✨✨😊 Thirty years ago, while there were many boats out and about, ours was the only one that saw whales, so it's possible we might not see any. But this time, I have a feeling we'll definitely see some! ✨ We set off on the boat. It's hot on the way to the whale spot, so I recommend enjoying the view from the covered seats on the first floor. Naze, the largest town on Amami Oshima. Walking through the arcade of Yanagawa-dori Street from the hotel, there are many delicious restaurants. One of them is the highly acclaimed Sake Kobo Cocoro. They served us delicious dishes one after another, with a selection of dishes to choose from. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were very friendly. The banyan tree is known as a lucky tree. It is the largest banyan tree in Amami, 400 years old, the "Maehida Banyan Tree". The road surrounded by banyan trees was dim even during the day, and the scenery with the light shining through was mysterious.
