📍 Location & Transport My trip to Tanzania started with a flight from London to Dar Salam. From there we took a domestic flight to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s safari parks. From there we began a three-day safari adventure with a driver and private chef. The journey took us through the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the legendary Serengeti National Park, sleeping in tented camps surrounded by nature. The final stop of the trip was Dar es Salaam, reached by a short internal flight. We spent two days there exploring the coastal city before returning to London. 🦓 Activities & Highlights The safari experience was the highlight of the trip. In Serengeti National Park, we saw incredible wildlife including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and countless antelopes roaming freely across the savannah. The landscape is vast and dramatic, especially at sunrise when the plains are filled with golden light.The Ngorongoro Crater felt like a natural wildlife amphitheatre. Descending into the crater was unforgettable, with animals visible in every direction and an extraordinary sense of untouched wilderness. Sleeping in tents inside the parks made the experience even more immersive; at night you could hear distant animal calls echoing across the plains. after our struggle but worth hiking experience at Kilimanjaro peak, we decided for a safari adventure at The Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is a protected 8292km area and labelled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site The main feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. we thought it was a very expansive area where Masaai people and wildlifes live harmonily. During my one-month stay in Arusha, I had several excursions with my local guide, Tyson. We went on a safari for my wife's birthday and had an amazing experience with Bruno and African Safari. The entire organization was very well-managed, from being picked up in Zanzibar for a flight transfer to being greeted by our driver, Didas, in Arusha. Didas was such a wonderful guide—very informative and incredibly patient, always taking the time to explain everything during the safari. The accommodation was stunning, nestled in the mountains, with extraordinary hotel staff. I highly recommend this agency and look forward to returning for another safari in Serengeti. 😊

Calling the service "excellent" feels like an understatement! Although it’s not close to major tourist spots, the hotel features outdoor seating by the pool and a cozy bonfire area near the restaurant/bar, along with other fun activities to enjoy. The one drawback was staying in a second-floor room where I could hear dogs barking, shoes scuffing, and noise from other guests outside. Then again, I am a light sleeper.

As a 16-year-old, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a safari, but it turned out to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life, thanks in large part to our guide, Domi. He picked up my family from our hotel in Arusha and took us on an incredible journey through Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara. Right from the moment we met him, he made us feel welcome, even surprising us with beautiful beaded bracelets, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Domi was exceptional. He made sure we saw all the animals we hoped to see, and if there was something missing, he went out of his way to find it. Thanks to his efforts, we saw the Big Five and countless other amazing creatures. One of my favorite aspects was how he never rushed us—whether we wanted to watch an animal for a while or take endless photos, he patiently waited. He was also fantastic at positioning the jeep perfectly for everyone to get great views and photos. The jeep was always stocked with cold drinks and water, and I always felt completely safe because of his confident driving, even on rough terrain. He was friendly, funny, and genuinely cared about making our safari the best it could be. This trip will forever be etched in my memory, and Domi played such an enormous part in making it so special. I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality during my stay. Among all the places I visited in Arusha, this stood out as the best and safest spot for relaxation. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Special thanks to everyone—from the chef to the manager—and especially CEO Jayesh, who was extremely gracious, humble, and approachable. Suraj, Jayesh, the Ayurvedic spa team, and the restaurant staff showed remarkable kindness and care throughout our visit. In December 2025, I stayed at this lodge before and after taking the 4-night, 5-day tour organized by the owner’s company, Safiri By Mazzola. The owner, Innocent, was absolutely amazing. Even before arriving in Tanzania, he answered my questions promptly via email and WhatsApp, which made me feel at ease. Despite my flight arriving late at 10:30 PM at the Arusha airport, he came to pick me up. The lodge itself is very comfortable. Although it seems a bit far from the city center, it’s only about a 20-minute walk. Even as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe. You can also book a motorbike taxi through an app.

A very beautiful location set in a lush garden. The service was impeccable. However, we experienced one small issue during our stay—the bed duvet only covered about three-quarters of the bed. This meant we had to snuggle closer to avoid feeling cold.

Affordable Kilimanjaro Trek Marangu Route 6 Days Safari Highlights The Marangu route is perhaps the easiest and most comfortable route to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. The route is well-developed and the climb is constant and moderate. Only the approach to the summit is the exception as it is slightly more demanding. The accommodation on this tour is in simple mountain huts, which might be an advantage compared to the camping routes. Acclimatization should not be underestimated as it greatly improves your chances of reaching the summit. After a relaxing breakfast, you will set off on a trek to Zebra Rocks. The distinctive black and white stripes give the rock formation its name. On your return to Horombo Hut, a cooked lunch will be waiting for you. You can relax in the afternoon and regain your strength for the hike the following day. Overnight and evening meal at Horombo Hut. 4 Days Mount Meru Climbing Highlights A 4 days climb up Mount Meru is an excellent choice for trekkers looking to take their time to acclimate and enjoy the stunning scenery. Here’s a detailed itinerary for a 5-day trek: Day 1: Your mountain guide or one of representative will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and escort you to your accommodations in Arusha. The drive from the airport to your hotel is about 45min. Pre-climbing Briefing At a specified time, your guide will gather you for the pre- climbing briefing that includes sharing all the necessary details and check all of your personal mountain gears. Going through the gears is very important as we have to make sure you are set for the trek and if you are missing something, your guide will organize it with the renting shops. Late Arrivals If your flight arrivals late or you are too tired to receive the pre- climbing briefing, your guide will still be there to make sure your gears are checked and the pre- briefing would be rescheduled the next morning. Kilimanjaro on the other side. After a short rest, you continue to Saddle Hut (3570m), on a wide col amid the slopes of Meru and Little Meru. At Saddle Hut, you will have hot lunch followed by a short acclimatization trek to the summit of Little Meru (3,820m) that offers superb views of Meru’s summit, the crater and at the top of the ash cone you will see Kilimanjaro towering in a distance. Later on, return to Saddle hut for early dinner ready for summit day! Distance: 8km Hiking Time: 3-5hrs Accommodation: Saddle Hut (3 Meals) Day 4: At 2am you will wake up for quick snacks before you start your final climb steeply to Rhino point (3800m) and furthermore to Cobra Point (4350m).
