Three days and two nights to fully explore Yibin
Visiting Yibin for the first time? Don’t just treat it as a stopover to Shunan Bamboo Sea.
The Jinsha River and Min River meet here, forming the Yangtze River as it flows onward. The city offers night views of the three rivers, old streets and alleys, as well as rich wine culture, wartime history, and vast bamboo forests. Most importantly, Yibin is perfect for eating while you explore: ranmian noodles, Lizhuang boiled pork, babashao skewers, Shuanghe cold rice cake, Nanxi dried tofu… three days is just right.
This itinerary is arranged as “day 1: explore the city, day 2: visit the ancient town and bamboo sea, day 3: see the natural wonders.” First-timers can follow it directly.

✅day 1: get to know Yibin starting at the confluence of the three rivers
· *Route: Hejiangmen Square → Sanjiangkou → Guanying Ancient Street → Yibin Museum → Cuiping Mountain Park → Daguan Tower night view**
🌊morning: Hejiangmen Square + Sanjiangkou
Start at Hejiangmen.
This is where the Jinsha and Min rivers merge to form the Yangtze River, making it the most direct place to get to know Yibin. Standing by the river, you can see the wide water, city buildings, and the bridge crossing the river, offering a very pleasant view.
When the weather is cool, take a slow walk along the river and enjoy the breeze. There are fewer tourists in the morning, making it easier to take photos.
🏮noon: Guanying Ancient Street
From the riverbank, head to Guanying Ancient Street. Old buildings, archways, courtyards, and creative shops are concentrated here, preserving the traditional street atmosphere while being great for shopping, eating, and photos.
For lunch, try a bowl of Yibin ranmian noodles. The noodles are dry, fragrant, and refreshing, mixed with pickled vegetables, crushed peanuts, and chili oil for a rich flavor. If you can’t eat spicy food, be sure to mention it in advance.
🏛afternoon: Yibin Museum + Cuiping Mountain Park
To quickly learn about Yibin, visit the Yibin Museum. You’ll find clues about Yibin’s Yangtze River culture, wine culture, and city history here.
Then head to Cuiping Mountain Park. The park is densely vegetated and perfect for a leisurely walk. From the top, you can overlook Yibin city. In summer, it’s best to visit after 4 PM to avoid the hottest time.
🌃evening: around Daguan Tower
Return to the Daguan Tower area at dusk to see the old city streets and find a local restaurant for dinner.
At night, you can also visit Hejiangmen to see the lights along the three rivers and six riverbanks. The reflections of bridges and city lights on the water make it one of the best night views in Yibin.

✅day 2: Lizhuang Ancient Town + Shunan Bamboo Sea
· *Route: Yibin city → Lizhuang Ancient Town → Shunan Bamboo Sea → accommodation near the bamboo sea**
🧱morning: Lizhuang Ancient Town
Set off early on day two for Lizhuang Ancient Town.
Lizhuang is not just an ordinary ancient town. During the war, many cultural and academic institutions relocated here, so it has both ancient architecture and rich cultural stories.
Take a slow walk along the old street, visit buildings like Xuanluo Hall and Dongyue Temple, then explore the Moon Field scenic area. There’s no need to rush the sights here; it’s perfect for strolling and sightseeing.
🥩noon: don’t miss Lizhuang boiled pork
When in Lizhuang, boiled pork is a must-order.
The pork slices are thin and translucent, dipped in a sauce made of garlic paste, soy sauce, and chili. It’s rich but not greasy. It’s recommended to pair it with white rice cake or local side dishes. It’s best shared with a group.
🎋afternoon: Shunan Bamboo Sea
After lunch, head to Shunan Bamboo Sea.
The bamboo sea is vast, so walking alone is not recommended. Once inside, you can take sightseeing buses depending on availability or choose to drive yourself. Representative areas include Forget Worry Valley, Emerald Corridor, Cloud Viewing Platform, and Sea in the Sea.
In summer, the bamboo forest feels much cooler than the city. When the wind blows through the bamboo leaves, the whole forest sways together, creating a very soothing atmosphere.
It’s best to stay overnight near the bamboo sea so you don’t have to rush back to the city at night, making the next day’s departure more relaxed.

✅day 3: Xingwen Stone Sea, see another side of Yibin
· *Route: Shunan Bamboo Sea → Xingwen Stone Sea → Yibin city**
On day three, visit Xingwen Stone Sea.
This area is completely different from the bamboo sea. The scenic area features karst landforms, stone forests, sinkholes, and caves, with layered rocks creating a strong visual impact.
Wear non-slip sports shoes for touring, as some areas have many steps. In summer, the temperature difference inside the caves is noticeable, so bring a light jacket.
If you don’t want to walk too much, you can choose the core spots based on your energy and don’t have to see every area. Return to Yibin city in the afternoon. Taking the high-speed train at night or leaving the next day is convenient.

🚗transportation and practical tips
Taking taxis between city attractions usually saves time. For Lizhuang Ancient Town, Shunan Bamboo Sea, and Xingwen Stone Sea, self-driving, chartering a car, or checking tourist shuttle options in advance is recommended.
For high-speed trains, choose Yibin West Station. Wuliangye Airport is some distance from the city, so allow plenty of time for your return trip.
Yibin is hot in summer, so plan city sightseeing for early morning or evening. Some paths in the bamboo sea and stone sea are slippery; wear comfortable, non-slip shoes and bring sun protection, insect repellent, and rain gear.
Don’t pack your schedule too tightly in three days. Leaving time to sit by the river, enjoy the breeze, and stop at a small shop for a bowl of ranmian noodles is the most comfortable way to experience Yibin.
