🌊 Kompos Beach, Patmos Island — pure Greek island bliss 😍
Kompos Beach on Patmos is one of those places that instantly makes you slow down, smile, and stay a little longer than planned 💙
The bay is beautifully calm, the water is that magical Aegean blue, and the whole setting feels wonderfully unspoiled yet comfortable.
If you are visiting Kompos Beach, Sea n’ Sun is the beach restaurant you really should not miss, because it adds the perfect food-and-drinks moment right by the sandSitting right on the beach, Sea n’ Sun makes the experience even better with a relaxed beachside feel and tasty food by the sea.
🕊️ The Soul of Patmos
Patmos has a deep spiritual and historical identity, which gives the island such a special atmosphere ✨ It is famously associated with Saint John the Theologian, and the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. That historical and religious background gives Patmos a timeless charm that makes even a beach day feel meaningful.
🏝️ About Kompos Beach
Kompos Beach, also known as Kampos Beach, is located in the northeastern part of Patmos, below the village of Kampos / Kambos and about 9–11 km north of Chora, with Skala, the port town, not far away.
It is a long, organized beach with clear water, shade from trees, and plenty of space to relax, which is why it is so loved by visitors. The atmosphere is laid-back, but it still has the little comforts that make a beach day extra easy.
⛳️Location
Kompos Beach is located in the Kampos area on the northeastern side of Patmos, around 4.5 km from Skala, the island’s port town, so it’s easy to include in a beach day itinerary. You can get there by bus from Skala, and if you’re already staying nearby in Kampos, it’s also possible to walk; otherwise, bus, taxi, scooter, or car is the more comfortable option .
🍹 Sea n’ Sun by the Beach
Sea n’ Sun sits directly on Kampos Beach, and its beachfront setting makes it ideal for a long lunch or sunset drink. Fresh seafood, cold drinks, and that sea view make it a very easy recommendation.
🚢 How to Reach Patmos
Getting to Patmos is part of the adventure. The island does not have an airport, so travelers usually arrive by ferry, most commonly via Skala port, from Piraeus and nearby islands in the Dodecanese and Aegean.
Once on Patmos, you can reach Kompos Beach from Skala by taxi, scooter, rental car, or local transport, and the drive is short and straightforward.
👣 Walkability and Comfort
Kompos Beach is easy to enjoy once you arrive, and the beach area itself is comfortable for strolling and settling in. A pair of sandals is still a good idea because the sand and natural ground can be uneven in places. It is the kind of beach where you can spend hours without rushing, especially when the sea is this inviting.
😋 Why It Stands Out
My favorite part was how naturally everything came together — swimming, relaxing, and then having a great meal at Sea n’ Sun right on the beach 😍
Kompos Beach gives you that classic Patmos calm, while the restaurant makes the whole experience feel complete. It is the kind of place that stays in your memory long after the trip is over.
