2025 Kampot Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

Our stay in Kampot was Pechyanich Resort which is a 20 min drive from Kampot City Centre. 🚗 We had to choose where to stay between Kep and Kampot and my vibe was having mountains, forests and rivers when I woke up, which made Pechyanich Resort a good choice. 🏞 Breakfast included but not buffet, but they were flexible with the arrangemenr as we do not eat pork. 🍳🍚 The resort also offer free Kayaking but we didn't try it though. 🛶😁 📶 No Wifi at the resort, but mobile data is accessible. 🌬 Air-conditioning in the room ✅️ 📺 No TV in the room 🚫 Overall it was a great stay. We really did enjoy our stay there and would choose to stay there again. 🫶🏽 Based on my personal opinion Scenary: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Location: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (20 min drive for city centre) Amenities: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Not having a wifi and TV was a bit inconvenience for us. #bokor Bokor mountain was the second highest mountain in Cambodia with the height about 1 kilometers from ground. Bokor resort and national garden was recently approved by royal government to establish the Bokor city. It was invested by one private company in Cambodia to develop the ancient history city to the New face to the world. On the mountain, there are many place such as resorts, hotels and casinos, restaurants, houses, villas and old pagoda, etc. We spend around one hour to reach to highest and about 40 kilometers from ground. There are the perfect view look like the paradise on earth when you cliam to the resort.

#kompot The reviews of our experience in Kompot province(sea view and sea food province). We stayed at Kompot Bungalow that seven kilometers far from city. The location was easy to find by driving straight along the riverside road to the southern about 10 minutes, it is on the right side. There was the perfect view with bokor mountain range and the sea close to bungalow as well. The room was very clean and quit place. Outside area has enough place to celebrate a party and private pool near to the sea. I recommend to go there by group or teams for your holiday or making small party with your beloved with great memories come back. #beachlife

* Veal Pouch Waterfall (It's call in khmer Teuk Tlak Veal Pouch) is part of Monivong Bokor National Park in Teuk Chhou District, Kampot Province. To get to this natural place, we have to travel from Kampot town about 8 km on National Road 3 to Wat Veal Pouch, which is near the foot of Bokor mountain. * About 30 minutes on foot from Veal Pouch pagoda through the forest, visitors will encounter a waterfall on the right hand side highlighted by clear blue water. The beauty of the water at this stage shakes the minds of all tourists to bathe and enjoy the cool water that originates from the top of Bokor Mountain. * Veal Pouch Valley is home to many waterfalls that are unique. * We also rent the quad bike to get the there..

All hotels in Kampot are very cheap. But it is not easy to find a hotel that is both comfortable and safe. Off topic; Recently, everyone is most concerned about safety issues. But I want to say that Kampot is absolutely safe. Because most of the people here are locals and foreigners. There are relatively few Chinese people here. So it is relatively safe. And there are many western food options. Let’s get back to the point; The service of this hotel deserves praise! Because we booked the room and checked in at night, But the waiter had already prepared the room for us when we booked it. Turn on the air conditioner for us two hours earlier. And the air conditioning is really cold, which is rare in Cambodia. The air conditioners in the hotels I visited before were usually slow to cool down. When we checked in to the room, the waiter also explained where the things in the room were placed, what drinks were free, which ones were charged, etc. The service was excellent! Like 👍🏻! This isn’t your regular Starbucks — the one in Kampot is right by the river, inside a beautiful old fish market building. Like… how cool is that? 😍 I went in the late afternoon just to chill, and I’m so glad I stayed for sunset 🌇. The view from the upper floor terrace? Chef’s kiss 💋. You get this gorgeous riverside breeze, soft golden light hitting the water, and the mountains glowing in the distance. Iced coffee in hand, legs stretched out — total peace 🧋✨. Inside is super clean and modern, but still has that local touch. You can sit in the air-con downstairs, or head upstairs for the real magic 🎨. Prices are a little higher than local cafés, but the view totally made up for it. And the staff were so sweet — helped me find the perfect photo spot 📸. If you’re craving a peaceful getaway without the stress of rushing around, Kampot and Kep make the perfect combo. We took a 3-day, 4-night trip (really just two full days of activity) and it was the ideal balance between relaxation and exploration. 📅 Itinerary Day1: Phnom Penh to Kampot The drive took just 3–4 hours. We didn’t pack anything hectic into the day—just grabbed a coffee at Starbucks Kampot and chilled there with a river view. Great way to ease into the trip. Day2: Bokor Mountain Adventure We headed up Bokor Mountain. It was misty and cold, giving everything a magical vibe. We explored the Vietnamese-Chinese temple, Buddha statues, and some old French colonial ruins. The mountain view is absolutely worth the ride—breathtaking, even in the haze. Day3: Seaside in Kep A quick 40-minute ride brought us to Kep Beach where we relaxed and soaked up the coastal calm. We had lunch at The Wave Kep West—the view? Stunning. The food? Delicious. It’s a little on the pricey side (around $200 for 6 people), but honestly, it was worth every dollar. Day4:Easy Drive Back No rush.
