You can also take a taxi or carpool. There is one daily bus from the passenger station to Deqin and Markam respectively, both a little over 100 km away. Of course, driving yourself is more convenient, but check road conditions before you go as the 214 is occasionally interrupted. 🏔️This small village, built on both banks of the Lancang River, sits at an altitude of 2,300 meters. It gets its name from salt production and is called "Tsakalho" in Tibetan📿 Salt production here dates back to the Tang Dynasty, with a history of over 1,200 years! 🌟The most amazing part: The salt fields on either side of the river are different colors! The west bank produces red salt, and the east bank produces white salt. Two colors of salt separated by just one river—how incredible is that!🎨 🏗️The wooden salt fields are built into the mountainside in layers. They use underground brine to dry the salt, preserving traditional manual salt-making techniques to this day.
