Aso Shrine, located in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture, is a representative ancient shrine of Aso. It is said to have a history of over 2,000 years and enshrines twelve deities, including Takeiwatatsunomikoto, the ancestral deity of Aso's development. It is the head shrine of approximately 500 Aso Shrines nationwide, and its main gate is known as one of the "Three Great Main Gates of Japan."
