#Sofitel nusa du This review is based on personal experience and a comparison with the Ayodya Resort Bali, where I stayed a few days before the Sofitel (January 28-January 31, 2026). The goal is to provide a realistic picture for choosing. Sofitel Grounds: The grounds are new, modern, and very well-maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly, speaks good English, and is always ready to help. The service is high-quality. However, upon closer inspection, there are areas where the pools or individual elements require cosmetic repairs. Compared to the Ayodya: I liked the Ayodya grounds more from an aesthetic standpoint—the authentic Balinese style, traditional sculptures, more greenery, and the spirit of Balinese. The grounds are different, but both are beautiful. Beach and Sea—CRITICALLY IMPORTANT POINT: Here, the difference is dramatic, and this is the Sofitel's main drawback for sea lovers. Sofitel: The sea near the hotel is green and very shallow, even at high tide. The bottom is muddy, with lots of seaweed and grass. Swimming is uncomfortable. This is typical for the entire beach area from roughly the Grand Hyatt to the Sofitel. Ayodya: The sea is much better! The water is blue, cleaner, and even at low tide it's pleasant to swim. There are waves, so you can swim. The difference is like night and day, even though the hotels are only about 2 km apart. Tip: If you're staying at the Sofitel but want a nice sea view, be sure to take a walk along the beach towards Ayodya and beyond. You'll find excellent swimming spots there. Breakfast: The breakfast at the Sofitel is delicious, the staff is very friendly, and it's impeccably clean. However, it's a very good buffet, but not a luxury or phenomenal one. In terms of selection and service, the breakfasts at the Sofitel and Ayodya are comparable, but the presentation and atmosphere at the Sofitel "feel more expensive." The rooms are Sofitel's strongest point: Here, Sofitel is the clear winner. 10 out of 10. Sofitel: Modern, fresh design. Beautiful furniture, incredibly comfortable bed with luxurious linens, soft mattress, pillow menu. Bathroom: high-quality fixtures, good toiletries (L'Occitane). Excellent Bose sound system. The room atmosphere is superb. Clean, stylish, comfortable. Ayodya: The rooms are significantly worse. Outdated, damp and smelly, the furniture is old. The bathroom looks like it's from the 90s. The air conditioners are old, noisy, and raise concerns about cleanliness. There's no comparison. Sofitel pool details: Very nice touches – sunscreen, water, and good towels are provided. Bottom Line and Who It's For: Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua is an excellent choice if you prioritize a modern, stylish, supremely comfortable room, impeccable service, and beautiful, tranquil grounds. You're buying quality accommodations within the hotel. However, be prepared for a very mediocre sea view. The price is higher than Ayodya, and this is justified by the number of rooms and the overall atmosphere of a modern resort. Ayodya Resort is worth considering if you value an atmospheric Balinese-style grounds, a significantly better sea view, and a budget (30-40% cheaper). However, you'll have to find a compromise in the rooms, which are seriously outdated and in need of renovation. For me personally, the tradeoff between a luxurious room at Sofitel and a poor sea view is a serious dilemma. The choice depends on what's most important to you.
