TIMANG BEACH : YOGYAKARTA

There are no beautiful beaches in Gunung Kidul. However, only Timang Beach has a Gondola. Timang Beach is located in Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul, Central Java. This beach is located in the west of Nglambor Beach, Jogan Beach, and Siung Beach or in the east parallel to Seruni Beach, Pok Tunggal Beach, Ngetun Beach. The distance from Wonosari City to Timang Beach is approximately 35 km. Timang Beach has a characteristic that is not much different from other Gunung Kidul Beaches. With views of white sand and many pandanus plants, this beach gives an interesting impression. In addition, you can also find a variety of marine life. The special feature that distinguishes this beach from other beaches is the existence of a coral island located 200 meters to the west, known as Watu Panjang or Batu Panjang or Pulau Timang. The access offered for visitors who want to go to Timang Island is by riding the Timang Beach Gondola, a traditional style cable car. This cable car is not as modern as the cable cars in the Capital City, because it is made with very simple materials, namely wood and rope as a connector. The gondola which is located on a cliff with a height of between 65 meters is actually not available for tourists because it is used by the surrounding community, most of whom are fishermen to reach Batu Karang to look for lobster. For those of you who want to test your guts by riding the Wooden Gondola, you must confirm with the manager at least a day in advance. They will check the security and first to make it safe for tourists. The gondola is moved manually, isn't it, so you'll be pulled by several people to get to the other side. The distance between the island and the beach is about 100 meters, if you want to try to ride it, you have to pay according to the applicable tariff. It takes a strong mentality if you want to try to cross to this coral island on Timang Beach, because along the crossing you will slide alone on a hang gliding above the deep ocean with big waves. The road access to this beach is not entirely smooth, but vehicles such as cars can pass through the road. There are two routes that can be reached to get to Timang Beach, namely by passing Jalan Raya Baron or through the village of Purwodadi Tepus.
