Switzerland's Jungfraujoch: The Top of Europe

Switzerland's Jungfraujoch, also known as the "Top of Europe," is a crown jewel of Swiss tourism. The Jungfrau Railway is home to the highest railway station in Europe, situated at an altitude of 3,454 meters. This station is located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch." The cogwheel train operates year-round, departing from Kleine Scheidegg and traveling along steep tracks through a tunnel to reach Jungfraujoch. Jungfraujoch boasts Europe's highest-altitude restaurant and post office, both at 3,454 meters above sea level. The Aletsch Glacier, stretching 23 kilometers, is the longest glacier in the Alps. Visitors can explore the Ice Palace, enjoy breathtaking views from the Sphinx Observatory, and take a walk on the eternal snow. During summer, the site also hosts exhibitions on Alpine research.
