Ya'an: Hidden Gem in Sichuan

While most people think of Chengdu when planning a trip to Sichuan province, there is a hidden gem just one hour South of the city! Ya'an is a small city packed with cultural sites, natural treasures, and historic importance. Head to Chengdu West station to catch a high speed train to Ya'an and arrive at the train station. From there you'll want to go to the Bifengxia Panda Center! It is a joint project with the Chengdu Panda Base but is far less busy than the one in Chengdu. It is located high in the mountains near a raging river that is beautiful by its own right. The drive up is magical and you can enjoy views of the unique foliage here. There is a small village near the Panda center where you can enjoy a meal at one of their homesteads which use only fresh produce grown and raised on the properties.
