Zagreb, a surprising city.

Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is often overlooked for its seaside cousins, Split, Dubrovnik or Zadar. Nonetheless, the city is a surprisingly good place to visit. If you arrive by plane, you're greeted by a modern terminal structure. The city itself is psychologically divided into the upper and lower city, which are both easily accessible on foot or a cute little funicular (claimed to be the world's shortest). The historic center of the city is lined with cobble stone streets and cute brown roofed buildings. Prices are lower to its seaside counterparts and in my opinion, offers a more authentic Croatian experience. Definitely spend a day or two if you are in Croatia!
