Picturesque Beaches of Dickwella, Sri Lanka
Dickwella is a small coastal town in the south of Sri Lanka.🏝️
This place is free from noisy entertainment and tourist crowds, and the beaches are not cluttered with sunbeds and bars.
The true charm of this location lies in its scenic bays.
The first bay is the longest, featuring a large sandy beach situated between the town's central area and the cape where the Dickwella Resort and Spa is located.
‼️ There are few places in Sri Lanka suitable for safe swimming. Large waves and underwater currents are characteristic of this coastline, so be cautious and avoid taking risks if you're not a strong swimmer. Instead, enjoy the spray of the waves and the power of nature from the shore.🙏
During the season, there is a relatively calm swimming area in this bay near the cape with the hotel. The water is clear and free of large crashing waves. However, avoid swimming too close to the cape, as the rocks are home to many sea urchins.
The second bay is located beyond the cape with the hotel. It is smaller in size, and the waves are calmer. Right after the hotel, there is a small rocky pool that children will enjoy. In the morning, turtles swim into this bay, and you can swim alongside them and feed them seaweed. It's an incredible experience to unexpectedly encounter a huge turtle in the water.🐢
The third bay is wilder but no less picturesque.
The presence of three diverse bays leaves no visitor indifferent.
What to do in your free time away from the beach:
📌 A 10-15 minute walk from the beach to the town center, past the bus station, you'll find a small fruit market. The fruits are always fresh and locally sourced. On Saturdays, a large weekend farmer's market opens—be sure to visit!

📌 For sewing enthusiasts, there's a wonderful fabric store. Bright! Diverse! Looking at these fabrics awakened a strong desire in me to learn how to sew.
